In Whiterun (if you have the hearthfire dlc) there is a girl by the name of Lucia wearing a green dress that begs for coins. She is one of the first homless children you can find in the game. You can have up to 2 kids at once.
There a few different things that you get from adopting. The kids will randomly gift you small things like alchemical ingredients, potions and once in awhile a cheap ring. A lot of player homes have a chest in the childs bedroom where the kids will store misc stuff they "find" such as more ingredients and other small stuff. You can have them do chores, go outside and play, go to bed, and etc. You can also give them certain items as gifts such as New clothes (just different colors of the same outfit) toys (dolls, wooden swords etc) and a few other things. If you are married you can ask your spouse how the kids are doing and all that boring shit lol.
I have a savegame with full decorated breezehome (childs romm instead alchemy lab) and want a smithing area in it. can I use this or will somethink break?
