An Easier War: Infiltration

Description
This is part of a series of .ini tweak mods I plan to upload over the next month or so, made as a bit of a favour to those who are finding LW2 just a bit too difficult and want to tweak specific parts.

This focuses specifically on the Infilitration system, I find it pretty intuitive vanilla wise, but I know there's some people who wished it was a bit easier to work with. So this modifies the Infiltration system, specifically re: squadsizes, so it's a bit less punishing for exceeding the recommended limit, and pushes that recommended limit to around 6 soldiers instead of 4 to 5. Also boosted the benefit for going below average a bit.

You'll still suffer major consequences if you greatly over do it, you're just somewhat less likely to hit that area.

Also modifies the effects of over/under infiltration, so you have less of a ramp up in difficulty between 75% and 100% infiltration, and slightly boosting the effects of over infiltration.

And if you're wondering why one would use this instead of altering the XComLW_InfiltrationSettings.ini file directly, this one is far less likely to get overridden by an update compared to Long War 2, especially if Pavonis ends up adding a major feature that requires a rewrite of XComLW_InfiltrationSettings down the line.

To edit the consequences to your further liking , go to (wherever XCOM 2 is installed)\steamapps\workshop\content\268500\847495317\Config and open the XComLW_InfiltrationSettings.ini contained within.

Changing a few lines of a .ini file and then begs for money? Get a life.

+SquadSizeInfiltrationFactor[12]=6.4f

change the 6.4 to 1.8 or whatever you like 1.8 is the cost of a 8man squad

I'm having an issue with the squad size modifier when trying to make it so I can take 12 soldiers missions I made it so I can select them, but the squad size modifier is like 28 days so it makes the mission impossible. I tried changing the squadsize infiltration factor for all 12 but that really doesnt seem to change the giant squad size modifier I get everytime I try to take more than 8 soldiers. How can I stop the squad size modifer from becoming so high?

Dear RealityMachina,

I play with most of your mods loaded. They have enriched my gameplay immensely, so I felt the least I owed you for all your hard work was an admirative and grateful thank you. You must feel as though you have covered every aspect of the game after having produced so many great mods, but if you ever feel as though you could caugh up one more, I will most likely play it as I am following you.

I'll probably update it to work with 1.3's values if it doesn't already, probably not changing it that much since it didn't seem LW2 changed how fast/slow infiltration happened or how it was calculated, just what could affect it in terms of items and what not. (Or added new mechanics to it like reinforcement strength depending on infiltration %)

Hey reality, are you thinking of changing this slightly with the changes to 1.3??

Thanks, Wigpeeler!

GhillieMan, I feel your pain. Sometimes you wonder if there are real masochists creating this stuff: instant reinforcements turn after exposure, 8-man pods, faceless by target? etc, etc. But usually when I try a different strategy, or think about what I was doing, I find a way to make it work. I gave up first four campaigns after 2-3 missions. The key is realizing that the LW2 guys wanted to take the concealed mechanic to its extreme - you aren't supposed to sit and fight and get very little xp for kills, much more for mission success. I'd recommend looking at the "strategy" forum on www.pavonisinteractive.com for LW2. Lots of great tips there, and some config tweaks (flares for reinforcements, etc) in the "Long War 201" forum as well.

Once you figure out sneaking, fallback, and running fights, it is actually quite fun - hard though! The first time you pull off a shinobi/sharpshooter 2-man VIP mission you will be glad you gave it time.

Would this be safe to remove mid campaign?
