Darkness Below starts in a highrise buidling by talking with a researcher named Hago. He informs the player that a test subject managed to get loose and started infecting the whole facility. The survivors remain on the 10th floor waiting for evacuation. Hago asks the player to go down to level 0 and retrieve his files that could potentially cure the infection.
