STALKER: Steam Controller Fix & Setup

How to get the Steam Controller to work in S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl
Note 10-May-2018 When you are no longer going playing STALKER ; revert/undo changes made as Windows will ask you about running Steam in compatability mode every boot up.

Intro Steam Overlay

The Steam controller will not work if, Steam Overlay does not work in Stalker soc.
Once you get Steam overlay to work thats it.

when you run the game in intro graphics a pop-up should appear saying press 'shift-Tab' to access hub.
If you press 'Shift+TAB' and do not see this

Then lets fix it.

-So you can read when u close Steam->

Exit Steam goto taskbar right click steam icon exit

1. On Desktop: right-click on steam icon -select open file location
1. or if using classicshell open programs- scroll steam- RightClick open file location

2. right click on steam.exe ->Compatibility ->change settings for al users
Select: Run this program as an administor -Apply -ok

-check right-click to make sure it did apply.

launch Steam from desktop shortcut
-warning that it is in compatability mode > continue

To configure controller
select Big Picture mode use Steam controller
goto Stalker game
Keyboard and mouse
1:45 min vid config and launch game

Note: there are user configuations

Open Stalker soc
On graphic THQ you should see pop-up saying:
shift-tab or Steamcontroller icon to select community hub.
20 sec vid opened in destop mode NOT Big picture

Proof it works 2:30min vid

^I didn't know the buttons as didn't get to use it.^
I made this guide because it took me two days to get it to work.
Thats it

Note after Win10 update tried again, lots of windows warnings "running in compatabillity mode" The Steam pop up "shift-tab or SteamController icon" did not display.
But pressing Steam icon on controller did bring up the overlay. Tested OK 10-May-2018 Game worked with Steam controller
