Replace the included (and very limited) FFX PC launcher with an enhanced remake featuring mouse, keyboard, and gamepad support, plus an extended options menu, true fullscreen support, and your choice of custom menu backgrounds and audio!

This is a launcher that I originally created as a weekend project to challenge myself creatively and hopefully end up with a better product than the included mouse-only launcher by Square Enix. Enjoy!

Installation

• First, make a backup of your original launcher. This is located at:
  
  ..\YourSteamLibrary\SteamApps\common\FINAL FANTASY FFX&FFX-2 HD Remaster\FFX&X-2_LAUNCHER.exe
  
  (If you don't create a backup, you can always restore the default launcher by running a 'verify integrity of game cache' operation within Steam.)
  
  
• Second, download the enhanced launcher .zip file from here[dl.dropboxusercontent.com] or here[drive.google.com].
  
  
• Third, extract the custom 'FFX&X-2_LAUNCHER.exe' and 'launch.dll' files from your download location to the aforementioned 'FINAL FANTASY FFX&FFX-2 HD Remaster' directory in your Steam library. Choose 'yes' to overwrite files, if prompted.
  
  
• Fourth, run the game through Steam as normal!

Things to do

• As this was originally a weekend project, unfortunately UnX support is not present at this time, but I would like to add it in the future, as well as support for ReShade. In the meantime you can still use both these and other mods, however they will have to be configured manually outside of the launcher.

Known issues

• Launcher crashes with Windows application error: "The application was unable to start correctly."
  
  -This issue arises on some systems where Windows tries to inappropriately load DLLs used by this launcher and other mods (such as Untitled Project X). It does not affect everyone, and is not directly caused by the launcher itself, and as such is a bit tricky to solve.
  
  In the meantime, I've created a repackaged version of the launcher that will temporarily rename the files causing the issue to prevent them being loaded except by FFX itself. It's a quick-n-dirty solution, but in the meantime, it works. Download that here.[dl.dropboxusercontent.com]

• When launching the game in Steam Big Picture mode, the game window
  will fail to take focus, causing the Windows taskbar to appear on top
  and prevent keyboard input from registering.
  
  -This is a bug with FFX itself. It is possible that a fix could be
  implemented into the launcher (such as generating a simulated Alt +
  Tab on launch) but in the meantime you will have to click in the game
  window to give it focus after launching.

@GreedFeed - Appreciated, but I have far too much on my plate at the moment to take on any more projects, I'm afraid. I actually did start a remastering of this launcher a while back, though, so we'll see what happens when I'm able to revisit it. My guess is that Steam OS would be a challenge to support, though. If the Windows compatibility layer isn't working already, I'd probably have to come up with different ways of reading and writing settings and/or launching game executables.

I've been getting a lot of Google account requests for permission to view the launcher .zip file. Apparently Google changed the way Drive links work and broke all existing links. I've now updated the post with a new, public link for those who prefer to use Drive.

@Gallus - Look under "Known Issues". There's a custom build of the launcher that will work with UnX. Consider it experimental, though. UnX uses some heavy-handed DRM of its own that makes using other mods with it difficult.
