Blue Pearl Oil Rig

Description
The Blue Pearl Oil Rig is a fully functional composite structure constructed entirely using vanilla/Apex building blocks. It is completely explorable, can be accessed both from sea and air, and is partially destructible.

As you might expect from an oil rig, it's extremely defensible against external attack, having only three staircase sea access points and plenty of air cover. The platform itself makes use of the new scalable industrial buildings added with Apex, making for a small, dense battlefield with lots of opportunities for vertical gameplay.

Possible uses for the rig include as a cool venue for a small deathmatch or terrorist hunt-style mission, as a target for a helicopter attack mission, as a base for an MGS PMC wannabie, or as an interesting point of interest for life or survival-style missions.

========================================================

To include the rig in your mission, find the mission in <your profile folder>Saved\steamMPMission\Blue%20Pearl%20Oil%20Rig.tanoa. De-PBO it with your favorite PBO tool, open it in the editor, copy all the objects and Ctrl-Shift-V to paste it in your mission. You may have to turn off object/ground snapping to avoid screwing up the positions of objects. You'll also want to copy over the rigFX.sqf script file in order to make the smoke and fire effects work.

Merging may also work but I didn't have any luck.

As the rig is made up of a significant number of objects, it will likely have an effect on mission performance. Near the rig, I get performance comparable to that in a medium-sized town, but YMMV. Disabling simulation or enabling simple objects may improve performance if this is an issue.

Note that, as with most structures, the AI don't really know how to navigate the rig. They can still be used if they're told to stand still, but don't expect them to do any fancy maneuvering.

I love the rig but where do I find rigfx.sqf?

You can add compositions via add-on but I'd rather not go down that path. BI have said they want you to be able to have compositions directly on Steam Workshop at some point, once they get around to it I'll likely do that.

There's a few mods on the workshop with compositions already. Unfortunately I'm unsure as to how all that works though. Good luck, and good mod!

@see you...
The download is a multiplayer mission with the oil rig in it. You'll have to unpack the mission to get at the objects, I've updated instructions a bit to make this clearer.

@Rector
I thought BI hadn't gotten around to implementing steam workshop support for compositions yet. If they have, great, if not, I'd definitely put this in as a composition when then do.

Just a suggestion, is possible. Perhaps try to turn this into an 3den editor composition so it can be easily added to missions?

Where's the oil rig found? You just "copy all the objects" from where?
