Atlantean Civilization - New Atlantis Version

Description
Towards the end of the last Ice Age a great maritime nation arose.. Atlantis.

Leader: Thoth Ampheres - Children of Poseidon

+2 movement to all naval units. Can embark and move over ocean immediately. +1 Faith from sea tiles.

Thalamako - Unique Unit

Atlantean replacement for Spearman and Swordsman. May embark, receiving an extra move while embarked and starts with the Amphibious promotion. Earns Gold upon attacking a city. Stronger than Spearman but slightly weaker than swordsman.

The Thalamako, from "thalassa" meaning sea and "machi" meaning battle, were elite swordsmen specializing in amphibious warfare. They were possibly one of the Sea Peoples depicted in ancient Egyptian records. These drawings bear an uncanny resemblance to the Atlantes warrior statues of Mesoamerica. Were the Thalamako warriors that Ramses II fought cultural remnants of Atlantis?

Megalith Works - Unique Building

Replaces the Stone Works. Is available earlier and adds 15% production towards buildings and wonders in the city.

The Atlanteans were the true fathers of megalithic culture. History has lost the arcane tools and methods that they used to shape and work these stone behemoths.

Firestone Lighthouse - Unique Building

Replaces the Lighthouse. Is available earlier, extends trade routes by 25%, and adds +1 Science from sea tiles.

The Great Firestone Crystals were used to collect and harness the suns energy for heat, navigation, and crude steam engines. Some even say the fouced light could have been used as a directed energy weapon.

Notes:

I wanted to make a version of Atlantis that used some different art and had ties to megalithic culture, Cayce's readings, Iberian ringed cities, and the Mesoamerican-Egyptian connection.
Known bug: The firestone lighthouse description doesn't show up in the Pedia.

Credits:

Thanks to Leugi for the Peleset model and icon. The Thalamako is a reskinned version of the peleset.
Thanks to Mahogany T. Jones for the ringed city logo idea.

Sort of works. I'm not certain but this mod is conflicting with either a JDS civ or ethnic units mod. Far as I can tell its only the graphic on the unit which shows up as typical red and black checkerboard. The features seem to work but I could be wrong. Just something to watch for.

if you want to know the actual location of atlantis, i suggest you take a look at the Eye of the Sahara. there was a map depicting the location of atlantis and where it was generally located at the time of the creation of the map. if it was put to the rough estimates of how maps were made then compared to later on in years, in terms of accuracy or generalized version of it. the eye of the sahara is atlantis. or what remains of it.

Jesus the sheer number of people shitting on the creator for creating a new character for a game. Everyone with an internet connection and ten seconds of Google thinks they're the expert. Smdh.

"They were possibly one of the Sea Peoples depicted in ancient Egyptian records." Without a doubt, they weren't because Plato made Atlantis up for an allegory.

Thoth is the Greek name for Djehuti or Tahuti, which is the original name for the Neter ("God") of knowledge and wisdom in the ancient Kemetic (Egyptian). Plato recounts the story of Atlantis from his descendant Solon centuries prior from an Egyptian librarian (priest) at the temple in Sais.

Also though, the Thalamako replacing both Spearmen and Swordsmen doesn't really seem necessary flavor wise or for balance purposes, and reverting them to just a Spearmen replacement might fix a couple bugs people are having.

I really love the flavor of everything here. And while the balance is certainly OP, for a mythical civilization like Atlantis, that's at least preferable to being UP, maybe even exactly the way it should be.

On a related note, for people who want to play this but in a more balanced state, editing XML files is actually pretty easy if you have Notepad++ installed (or just regular Notepad).

Probably just remove the faith from sea tiles from the UA and tone the Megalith Works down to +10% for starters. Could go a bit farther then that depending on your desired exact balance result.

Thoth Ampheres was not a leader in Atlantean tales, but a scholar of sorts, who told of the fall of Atlantis, and moved to Egypt later on.

I have noticed a bug, your Thalmako spearman replacement does not upgrade into the pike man, which really sucks since i have mad dozens of them
