The Mighty GAU-8 Avenger

Since the release of the NATO close air support plane, we were missing the power of the real A-10, the role model of the A-164. With bringing the A-164 into the game, Bohemia introduced a gun which was neither able to destroy a simple APC nor really effective against infantry. So we, passionate pilots, decided to see what we can do, and this mod is the result.

What does it do?
The core focus of the mod is to increase the damage to achieve a more realistic result. We also completely overhauled all sounds and particle effects, just take a look in our announcement trailer.

The mod has no dependencies with other mods.

The mod is compatible with multiple other A-10 mods. Among them are:
* Peral
* EricJ
* Fullerpj
* Firewill

To get our support for modded vehicles working you need to copy the desired files from '/additional addon support' to '/addons'.
ArmA will only load files from the '/addons' folder. If you add our support files but don't have the mod you will get error messages.

Alternatively follow the links and just subscribe to the additional mod.

Optional Modules
* Less FX, more performance (decreases the amount of particle effects and their lifetime which increases the performance)

The files from our '/optional' directory are optional modules that you can use if you wish.
Just copy the modules you would like to use to '/addons' as ArmA will only load files from the '/addons' folder.

Check if you got the newest version (refer to versions.txt)
* A vehicle, other than supported, has no ammunition (empty magazine)?
** The vehicle probably adds our weapon (or the default A-164 weapon) but not the magazine. In either case contact us here, at the Bistudio Forum or at GitHub so we can add support for this mod.
* A vehicle, that is supported from us, does not work with our mod?
** Check if you 'installed' our support correctly (refer to section 'Supported Vehicles'). Still not working? Contact us here, at the Bistudio Forum or at GitHub so we can fix the issue also for others.

The source of this mod is available at GitHub, it is published under the GNU General Public License v3.0.

Unfortunately, no. At least, not by me. However, the mod is open source. Any interested modder may use it as base for such a mod.

i love the mechanics in the mod but i fucking hate the sounds, is there any way to replace the sounds of the mod for the ones of dynasound?

Good news. It's not your mod, it happens to Vanilla A-10 or A-164, too, also to RHS and all other GAU-8 using Planes. So I think it's a ArmA bug, which needs to be fixed by bohemia

Sorry but I can't help much here. I also can't report if you are the only one. I don't play ArmA anymore at the moment but I did not hear someone reporting such an issue. Maybe some ArmA update changed sound-related stuff. The mod is open-source at GitHub, so if someone has a fix, please let me know or just commit it yourself.

Well, I tested it out now, problem still not solved. For extendet Troubleshooting: If a player is using the A-10, other observer only can hear the weapon firing within 400 m. If used by Zeus CAS Module, only the Zeus can hear it, but only for a part of a second. When Zeus is going out of his Zeus Vision, he can't hear it, too. So Maybe an MP locality Issue? But if we are the only ones with that problem, then problably not ...

Meanwhile we're using the Ace Compat, but it didn't fix this issue. We also tried deactivating all other Soundmods, but that doesn't seem to be the problem either. The next step we're gonna try is using your performance mod
