Fallout 4 Mods List

Over two hundred mods I've collected to enhance your game play experience. This guide will be expanding and changing as I find new or better mods to add to the list. I'll make sure to highlight any changes (NEW MOD,UPDATED). To quickly search the list for changes press CTRL F and in the search box type either NEW MOD or UPDATED and use the arrows to search. Also leave a comment if you have any issues or want to recommend a mod not on this list.

Think about getting a Nexus Mods premium membership, even if just for a month. It will help with downloading multiple mods by greatly speeding up the process, plus you're helping out a great site.

If you're planning on installing a bunch of these mods at once I'd recommend a clean install first. Uninstall all your current mods and Fallout 4 (Delete the Fallout 4 folder left behind) then reinstall the game and have at it.

This list is ordered alphabetically and by Nexus categories, it's not necessarily the recommended install order. Make sure to read the instructions and compatibility of each mod before installing.

Fallout 4 Script Extender (F4SE)

UPDATED (For 1.10.26) http://f4se.silverlock.org/ Required for some mods, follow the instructions and simply copy and paste the approriate files into steamapps\common\Fallout 4. If you'd like to start the game through steam simply rename Fallout4Launcher to Fallout4LauncherOLD then rename f4se_loader to Fallout4Launcher.

DEF_UI PipBoy Lag Fix

If you're noticing lag between menus, copy and paste this fix[1drv.ms] into steamapps\common\Fallout 4 main directory.

FPS Dynamic Shadows - Shadow Boost

(For 1.9.4.0) http://www.dev-c.com/fallout4/shadowboost/ Drastically helps FPS, especially in Boston. Copy and paste the files into steamapps\common\Fallout 4. Here's my settings for the ShadowBoost.ini file.

Disable In-Game V-Sync

For those with high refresh monitors (144hz) you may want to disable in-game V-Sync for better performance. Open up FalloutPrefs.ini found in C:\Users\*yourname*\Documents\My Games\Fallout4\. Look for the line iPresentInterval=1 found under [display]. Change the value to 0 so it will look like this iPresentInterval=0. Next you'll want to lock the framerate or you'll have issues, follow one of the steps below.

You can alternatively use the Fallout 4 Configuration Tool found in Recommended Mods\Utilities section to accomplish the same thing plus adjust many more options.

Locking Framerate using ENB

I would advise you to lock your frame rate to around 60 otherwise the game tends to have issues (ie. lock picking, dialogue, etc.). Check the enblocal.ini file located in your Fallout main directory (if you're using an ENB). You want it to look something like this:

Locking Framerate using EVGA PrecisionX

You can download this program on Steam. Click the gear icon in the lower right hand side and in the menu select Framerate Target.

Locking Framerate using Nvidia Control Panel

Select V-Sync Adaptive (half refresh rate) to lock your framerate to around 72 which works just as well as 60.

Valdacil's Item Sorting, DEF_UI, Gold Kit PipBoy and UPDATEICONSLIB2 Installation order:

Install Mo Betta Junk and Logical Junk Weight first.

Valdacil's Item Sorting
Select one of the pre-made options such as Val's Picks (DLC Version) as well as Customize. On the next menu only select Better Junk + DEF_INV to have the junk components show up on your HUD like the picture below. Next menu select DEF_INV ALL.
DEF_UI
Select both DEF_INV and DEF_HUD. (Make sure to select your correct screen ratio.) Next menu select Use Sorting Mod Component Tags. On the next menu select I already have sorting xml files.
Gold Kit for Color Pipboy(OPTIONAL: Only if you want to have a colored inventory menu.)
Overwrite DEF_UI.
ICONLIB2 for DEF_UI
Select the Colored option if using Gold Kit for Color Pipboy.
Overwrite Valdacil's Item Sorting and Gold Kit for Color Pipboy.

If the junk components aren't showing up like in the picture below then find the Valdacil plugin (ValdacilsItemSorting-JunkBetter+DEF_INV.esp) and put it lower in your plugin list.

Armorsmith Extended

Changes entire armour mechanics and adds a bunch of new armors with Replacer and Merged patches. http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/2228/?

There are optional AE Merged patches listed on the mod page that don't require a separate install of a lot of the armor and clothing mods listed here. It will also make them craftable at at a Armorsmith Workbench. If your plugin load list is getting a little big you may want to replace it with one of the AE Merged options.

Also, there are optional AE Replacer patches which replace the armor mod it says with a craftable version at the Armorsmith Workbench. You no longer need the other mod file, just the AE Replacer.

BodySlide and Outfit Studio

ENB Man - An ENB Manager

Great for users who want to test out different ENB's, this utility makes it simple to switch back and forth. http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/15198/?

To add a ENB click File, Add, Archived Preset (Select your ENB zip file). If your ENB has multiple folders make sure to select the main one like in this image.

Then click the plus sign to add the ENB or if grayed out select the arrow coming out of the box.
Next you need to add a binary. Click the down arrow located next to Binary and select Add. I named the binary after the version number, in this case v.307. Now drag and drop d3dll.dll and d3dcompiler_46e.dll from your enbseries folder you've extracted mentioned in the ENB section.
That's it, now just click the check mark in the bottom right corner and your ENB will be enabled.

Fallout 4 Configuration Tool

A great tool for adjusting your Fallout 4 .ini files without having to copy and paste everything. You can select options such as remove Vsync, Archive Invalidate your Fallout4.ini file, FOV options, or turning off God Rays completely. As well as any other options associated with the Fallout 4 Launcher in a simple to use interface.

FO4Edit

This is used for "cleaning" up mods that use similar assets by merging them together with a patch. Sometimes if you have conflicts and mods aren't working you can solve it with building a merged patch. It maybe be worthwhile to educate yourself on how to use this program so you're not entirely dependent on someone else to release a patch. Merge Plugins

Merge Plugins Standalone (or just Merge Plugins), is a tool for combining mods from Bethesda games which have .ESP/.ESM files. It uses the xEdit codebase as an API, and can be used with Skyrim, Oblivion, Fallout New Vegas, Fallout 3, and Fallout 4. Excellent tool for those trying to clean up your plugin load order or wanting to fix mod conflicts (ie. weapon leveled lists). http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/69905/?

Settlement Keywords Expanded

Provides one single menu at the end of the vanilla menus for Fallout 4 mods that add settlement items. http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/12226/?

Weaponsmith Extended

This mod adds a ton of weapons. All these weapons are fully leveled list integrated. They are also setup to where they can spawn with random mod load outs on them. All the weapons, with the exception of Swan's Axe which is a unique loot drop, are craftable at the Weaponsmith bench. You will need to manually install this file. Just copy and paste the two .ba2 files and both the Sound folders into your Fallout 4 Data folder (steamapps\common\Fallout 4\Data).

It's also advisable to have the Weaponsmith Extended Plugin (Weaponsmith 2) near the bottom of your Plugin Load Order but above the Compatibility Patches.

ENB

ENB series Binaries for Fallout 4

Stuttering and Memory patch ENBoost

This mod implements functionality similar to versions for Skyrim and Fallout 3, smoother frame rates, less stuttering, higher textures resolution, at cost of higher ram usage first of all. http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/332/?

Fixes

If you're having issues where your character being blurry in third person because of the DOF settings add this to your Fallout4.ini file located in C:\Users\*yourname*\Documents\My games\Fallout4.

Because of the DOF settings with the ENB's the characters may be out of focus during the dialogue scenes. You can turn off the dialogue camera in Settings to fix this. It's really up to personal taste.

WEAPONS

If you're using Weaponsmith Extended you'll be asked to overwrite See-Through-Scopes when installing some Weapons mods, just select No To Mod.

Some of these weapons use Leveled List and require you to create a merged patch using FO4Edit[www.nexusmods.com] if you want to use both mods. I will put a note on any weapons that require Leveled List. It may seem complicated to create a merged patch but it's fairly easy. Watch this video to learn more.

You can now also use a program called Merge Plugins (found in the Recommened Mods/Utilities section) for an even easier way to merge plugins.

To spawn weapons I've add the Console Commands to, first open Console Commands (`) then type in the HELP "WEAPON NAME" 4. Then look for the code beginning with WEAP and ending in xx000800 , "xx" being two letters or numbers associated with the weapon. Once you have those letters, numbers type ADDITEM xx000800.

Colt Python
