How to still upload screenshots after the Steam update
Por uniQ
I just want to clearify, that this guide is only supposed to help those who are struggling to upload screenshots. I discovered some of it by hints from others, some on my own. It is only a support, I really don't care about likes, fav or anything else and I probably will take it down as soon as the problem is fixed, because then there won't be any need for this guide.

The guide does only solve the problem caused by "importing" screenshots, e.g. because they were taken with a different program.

There isn't really someone who "owns" this solution, but for those who care, go ahead and thank these users instead of me for their suggestions:

Make sure your screenshot is a .jpg file (convert, do not just rename the file) and the size is below 8MB.

[1] Left: Simply copy your screenshot in the screenshot folder.

[2] Below: Now create a copy of it in the same folder and add _vr to the filename.

[3]: Restart Steam and simply upload the screenshot.

You'll have two identical picture, with the same name, except that one is extended by "_vr".

In case this solutions fails for any reasons, you can either try the solution from BSL, or using an exploit in Steam.
Just to clean up with some rumors:
[1] The filename has always been COMPLETELY irrelevant. As you can see, my screenshot was called BioShockInfinite_2016_08_19_23_44_50_615_stitch_1.

[2] You don't need to create a thumbnail. Steam does it automatically when you open up the upload screenshot window.

For some reason this has stopped working for me. Anyone has any idea why or have alternate solutions? :blankbs:

Ok, now it worked. Originally, i had the name of the copied file was called test file_copy.jpg. I put vr, then it would not work. I had to "change" the name to the original copies name, but only added vr to the end of it. That seemed to work. No steam cloud issue now..whew.

i hate to say, but i been trying to recently uploading screenshots to steam, and now i always get the error about the cloud being temporarily down, even when i add vr to the end. Can you test it on your end for a game and see if it still works UniQ?

Glad I was able to help you :happygoo: To answer your question: When you "import" a picture and restart Steam, it will add that one to your local file containing all information about your screenshots. Pictures added on startup (opposted to pressing F12 ingame) will also have a another value saved with them. That one tells Steam that there is another related image file ending on "_vr". Since there normally isn't, Steam can't find the supposed file and the upload fails. As soon as you create that file, Steam is satisfied and it works. It should also work to edit the vdf file, but that is simply a lot more annoying.
