Urdnot's The United Arab Emirates - Sheikh Zayed

Adds the United Arab Emirates under Sheikh Zayed Bin Rashid al Nahyan to the game. Growing the tiny emirates of the Persian gulf from pearl-fishing backwaters into glistening megacities synonymous with the 21st century, few rulers have a rags-to-riches story like Sheikh Zayed. The UAE, most famously its megacity Dubai, converted its considerable oil revenues into vast and opulent megastructures, drawing visitors and investors alike from across the globe and turning this little patch of coastal desert into a shining garden.

UA: Look on my Worth, Ye Mighty

For every 500 Gold in the treasury, receive +5% Gold in the Capital and all cities with a World Wonder. Upon constructing a World Wonder, receive Gold for every other Wonder in the city.

UB: Burj (Hotel)

In addition to the normal benefits of the hotel, the Burj converts 20% of the cities Tourism output into Gold, and provides an extra +2 Gold and +2 Tourism on all World Wonders. Construct Burj's in your wonder-filled cities for a massive tourism boost in the late game.

UU: Qasimi Raider (Privateer)

The Qasimi Raider receives double Gold from pillaging trade routes, and refreshes its movement points upon doing so, or when capturing enemy ships. Use the Qasimi Raider to establish a pirate coast capable of generating huge amounts of cash in the midgame.

The UAE in Civilisation V reflects this with a focus on Gold and Tourism - in particular the UAE gets massive bonuses to leveraging its economy to boost its tourism output, and is played best by focusing on wonders which can achieve both! By gaining extra tourism for gold in the bank account, the UAE is a late game powerhouse able to leverage a modest start into a cultural victory - focus on Gold and Culture wonders to cruise your way to success. If you're a little low on cash in the early-mid game, the UAE can jumpstart its economy by constructing wonders and, should you be feeling less peaceful, by turning your lands into a veritable Pirate Coast, striking at shipping lanes to hoard the world's wealth for your own citizens. Can you raise skyscrapers up into the searing desert sky? Can you build a modern day oasis, shining not with water but with glass, steel, and gold? Can you build a civilisation to stand the test of time?
