Let's Start
First download this pack: Download[sourceforge.net]

It contains ExtensionChanger.exe (an extension changer, obviously :P), SegaGenesisClassics.exe (the launcher), a folder with the emulator and the source scripts for the extension changer and the launcher (You will need Autoit for edit and compile the scripts at your own).

Unpack it on your steamapps\common\Sega Classics.

Filetree must be like this:
  • Your Sega Classics folder
    • Bin Folder
      • Fusion.exe
    • Uncompressed ROMs folder
    • ExtensionChanger.exe
    • SegaGenesisClassics.exe
IMPORTANT NOTE: Make a backup of your SegaGenesisClassics.exe before unpack. It's better than replace it.

Now go to Bin folder and run Fusion.exe

Then go to Video>Fullscreen Resolution and select your monitor native resolution. With this, aspect ratio correction on fullscreen will work correctly.

You can also configure controls or whatever you want.
Setting up the ROMs
This version of the Launcher uses the roms located on uncompressed ROMs folder. Since this folder has the ROMs in majority as SGD/68K format, I made a little tool for change its extensions to BIN for Kega Fusion compatibility.

Simply place ExtensionChanger.exe in the Sega Classics folder next to uncompressed ROMs folder like shown on Filetree example, Not inside it, and run it.
How to launch your games and Workshop mods
Run Simple Launcher through Steam as normal and you will see a menu like this:

Select the game from the list and Click on Launch!

To play Workshop Mods Click on Play a Mod and you will get a window like this:

open the folder of your suscribed mod and open the file on it. The emulator will be launched with your mod loaded.

SOR2 Simpsons Edition by Candra Software

To play a recently played mod Click on Play last MOD.
Steam Overlay
Steam Overlay has a little problem with Kega, Overlay has the same hotkey as emulator shut down and we don't wanna this.

Go to Steam>Settings>In-Game and change the Overlay shortcut keys by clicking in the marked field and pressing the desired keys. Make you sure that isn't an other emu or windows hotkey.

You can also disable kega shortcuts keys on Options menu.

And here we go:

PD: Sorry for my English, isn't my native language.

Those virus warning are just false positive because autoit scripts sometimes are detected as a virus.

Regards.
Let's Start - Old Version
This section is for archive purposes and isn't supported.

First of all you must download this pack: {LINK REMOVED}

Then decompress it on your steamapps\common\Sega Classics folder.
Note: the exe has the same name as the simple launcher executable, so is a nice idea back up this one instead of replace it.

Now launch simple launcher as normal on Steam and you get a menu like this, simple and selfexplanatory.
It's a simple app I created with AutoIt.

Click on Launch button, it will start Kega to do a little config.

Go to Video>Fullscreen Resolution and select your monitor native resolution. With this, aspect ratio correction on fullscreen will work correctly.

You can also configure controls or whatever you want.

Adding ROMs and ROMHACKs - Old Version
This section is for archive purposes and isn't supported.

Simply Place the ROMs located on uncompressed ROMs folder or the workshop ones into Bin\Roms folder created after extracting the file supplied above.

Important Note: some ROMs supplied in uncompressed ROMs folder have 68k\SGD extensions, you must rename it to bin for Kega compatibility and the roms can't have any spaces on their names.

You can also uncompress the roms in data folder as described on this guide at section III and place it on said directory.

Extension changer isn't mandatory. However it also rename the roms for better listing in the launcher.

do you really need to download this "extension changer" to change the extension? I feel like it should be self explanitory, but apparently it isnt, because for something relating to converting .jpg to .png i had to run it through a converter. I ended up renaming the extension instead and it worked just fine.

So downloading this has completely screwed up my Steam. Because of the virus identified (which I used a workaround to install), my PC will no longer allow Steam to access My Documents, which is where all of my steam save game files. I've removed all of the files and reinstalled Sega Classics, but now Steam can't save any games for that game or any other Steam games. Do I have to uninstall Steam or do you know of any other way to fix this? I tried changing my save location but it doesn't appear there is any way to do this... Please help!

Understood, thanks. I can tell it's legit because other people are using it, I just didn't see anyone else with that comment and wanted to make sure you were aware of it.

The project is made with autoit and some antivirus software flags autoit compiled executables as virus. But is false positive, you can look at source code.
