Scanning Protocol AOE Fix

Description
I have no idea what's going on with the Scanning Protocol range right now, but in my game it scans the entire map and is not centered around the user.

When I put my fix on, which removes weapon range checks and forces a value, everything goes back to normal. Both have the same values punched in for the test, which was 16 and 16.0f

You may not have the same problem I have, your mileage may vary. But I'll tell you one thing this mod does if not that, it allows your to configure your Scanning Protocol radius independently of Battle Scanner radii. And that's something. I guess.

Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe I'm the only one with this problem.

I have absolutely no idea. I put 2 screens up. You clearly see a difference.

-= AND BATTLE SCANNER? =-

Curiously, it's not affected at all. I bet it's the Gremlin's fault.

-= DEFAULT =-

Radius for Scanning Protocol is 18 (As a reference, Battle Scanner unmodded is 12). Remember you are stationnary, so the area must be bigger.

Setting a radius in this mod will not affect the Battle Scanner.

-= COMPATIBILITY =-

Overrides Scanning Protocol's targeting method.

-= LW2 COMPATIBILITY =-

The LW team has listed it as compatible and not implemented. Suggest you keep this one in!

has anyone tried just cutting - SCANNING_PROTOCOL_RADIUS = X into another file to see if it works? i found the battle scanner range in one of the ini files and was able to adjust its value by adding it into a long war ini file.

Find XComScanningProtocolConfig.ini in the mod folder. Open it and change the value. Here is the file:

[ScanningRadius.X2AmbientNarrativeCriteria_ScanningRadius]
; Battlescanner Range is 28 Radius 12 in original game settings.
SCANNING_PROTOCOL_RADIUS = 18.0f

You can thus make it as big as Battlescanners if you put 28.0f

I tested it with LW2 on. It indeed fixes targeting, but effectively nerfs the skill, because it gives way less vision with this mod on.

You'd need to compile the entire thing. However this just overrides scanning, its probably WOTC compliant? Or was it when i couldnt code properly? Yeah its 2016 its pretty old
