Description
Stout Knightly Splitter/Stout Knight Splitter Weapon Skin for the Double Axe.
TRIS: 2608

The Stout Knightly Splitter is a short and fat, single headed, heavy battle axe designed for use in close-medium distance combat with two hands. There was a large variety of axes used in history extensively throughout Europe most popular during the Migration Period and Viking Age and where continued to be used throughout the rest of the middle ages diversifying and changing shapes forming many different axe varieties due to the advancement in armour and weapon technologies. As a result of this I made this skin based on several similar references of medieval axes. The axe-head is reminiscent of the historical Dane-axe shape but combined with modern medieval battle axe features including a long spike/pick for piercing armour on the butt of the axe-head, steel langets pinned to the sides of the haft to avert damage to the handle, some simple decoration and higher quality materials are features are all typical of later medieval period axes. All this considered the skin itself is meant to be a representation of an average heavy battle axe.

And for anybody worried about it not looking like a double axe, I was also worried when making this item and considered how the weapon would telegraph as a ‘double axe’ I have noticed complaints in-game when players mention skins that might appear to different to the original and throw off parry timing as a result all because the weapon looks like it is a slower or faster than it is. I decided that in the case of a double axe a single variation is acceptable. It is significantly shorter than other axes with a head much bigger than others as well. The head of the axe is also considerably thick to show it’s weighty and I feel that as far as telegraphing goes it is unlikely players will make a misidentification if faced with this skin. Also as far as compatibility with animations goes the Knights only used one side of the double axe in game so you would not have to be worried about getting hit with the spike it all works :P hope you all agree with my design choices here let me know what you think in the comments haha I really just thought it would be fun to have a big single sided axe too!

Hope you all like it and remember to up-vote and favourite it if you want to see it in game!
