Introduction

The following guide is designed to provide an overview of the Stellazzio located throughout FF9.
The guide begins by defining what Stellazzio are, as well as providing the advanced player a quick start table and world map which direct the user as to where they can locate each Stellazzio, as well as which rewards correspond with each Stellazzio.

Novice players having difficulty locating items , or those less familiar with FF9 can go on to read the Stellazzio Collection Guide, which lists each of the thirteen Stellazzio in order that they are first available. This guide contains each Stellazzio's inscription, specific location details, reward, as well as an image and video tutorial showing you how to obtain each.

This guide concludes with frequently asked questions (FAQ), and credits.

Stellazzio Defined

Stellazzio are thirteen coins scattered across the Gaia at fixed locations. Each Stellazzio is named after one of the twelve signs of the Zodiac, with the thirteenth coin representing Ophiuchus (the snake-holder); a special recurring symbol throughout the Final Fantasy series.

Once collected, Stellazzio can be given to Queen Stella (located in Treno) for a reward (see Quick Start Table below). You will receive one reward per returned Stellazzio.

COLLECTION NOTE: You must locate the twelve Zodiac coins and deliver them to Queen Stella before searching for the Ophiuchus. Once the twelve Zodiac coins are delivered to Queen Stella she use their inscriptions to uncover the thirteenth coin's location.

Aries

Inscription: “'The story of 12 Zodiacs', the 11 Zodiacs pondered. How best to catch Virgo's heart? Aries headed east.”



Location: In the windmill at Dali; Check along the north end of the bottom level to find it.
Reward: 1,000 Gil

Taurus

Inscription: “Taurus had an idea. He would give Virgo a gift. Through the forest and over the mountain, he found a star.”



Location: In the item shop in the slums of Treno.
Reward: Phoenix Pinion

Gemini

Inscription: “Gemini thought by the river, 'I will sing her a song.' He didn't know where she was, but he hoped his song would reach her.”



Location: Throw 10 gil (13 consecutive times) into the fountain at the entrance of Treno.
Reward: 2,000 Gil

Cancer

Inscription: “Cancer headed to the cape where Virgo waited. The sun was setting into the ocean. Would he finally see her?”



Location: Behind overturned cart in first passageway of Burmecia. Check the area around the box on the left side for the coin.
Reward: Blood Sword

Leo

Inscription: “Leo was waiting for the sun to set into the ocean. Then Cancer showed up, and they began to fight. Into the ocean they fell...”



Location: By the right wall, near the Neptune Statue, at the Alexandria Harbor. You can get there by going through the side door of the west tower of Alexandria Castle.
Reward: 5,000 Gil

Virgo

Inscription: “Watching the sunset from the cape, Virgo whispered, 'My only wish is to be with you now...”



Location: In the Black Mage Village Inn. Check at the top of the ladder on the bunk beds.
Reward: Elixir

Libra

Inscription: “Libra was a perverse fellow. He would always walk in the opposite direction of the sun. Would he ever see Virgo?”



Location: Next to the fountain in Madain Sari; check toward the back.
Reward: 10,000 Gil

Scorpio

Inscription: “Scorpio was very timid. He always looked at his shadow until one day he decided to look away. He walked up a hill.”



Location: In Quan's Dwelling just below the HP/MP restoring spring.
Reward: Black Belt

Sagittarius

Inscription: “Sagittarius dashed through the night, defying the chilly northern wind that was stinging his right cheek.”



Location: To the left of the Gysahl Pickle cart in Lindblum's Business District, during its reconstruction. Search the corner of the dirt path on the west side outside Card Freak Gon's house.
Reward: 20,000 Gil

Capricorn

Inscription: “Impatient Capricorn ran up a hill toward the sun and fell asleep from exhaustion.”



Location: In the waters to the right of the entrance to Daguerreo.
Reward: Rosetta's Ring

Aquarius

Inscription: “Aquarius arrived late. He asked everyone, 'Who kissed Virgo?'”



Location: In the right hand chest in Ipsum's Castle behind a pillar.
Reward: 30,000 Gil

Pisces

Inscription: “Pisces said to Aquarius, 'Virgo made her choice. Go see him and he'll tell you the rest.'”



Location: In a chest at the core of the Invincible Airship, to the left of the room Freya and Amarant are in.
Reward: Robe of Lords

Ophiuchus

Inscription: “Their future was uncertain, but Scorpio and Virgo kissed in the light of dusk. That moment meant everything.”



Location: In the same spot as the Scorpio. It can be worked out from the clues on the back of each of the coins in order.
Reward: Hammer

Q: Which Stellazzio am I missing?
A: Here is an image that shows which cage each stellazzio is in

Q: Do the Stellazzio need to be collected in a specific order?
A: No, although you will need to collect the twelve regular Zodiac Stellazzio and return them to Queen Stella before you can retrieve the thirteenth Stellazzio (i.e, the Ophiuchus).

Q: If I do not obtain them by a certain disk, will they be unobtainable?
A: No.

Q: What is the purpose of collecting Stellazzio?
A: In addition to some in game rewards (see Quick start table: Stellazzio details), you will be able to view a special cut scene at the end of the game if you have The Hammer in your inventory.

Q: Is the game beatable without obtaining all Stellazzio?
A: Yes, these are strictly side quests. However certain rewards, such as The Hammer, can be used to make Steiner’s ultimate armor upgrade: Tin armor

Why do all these guides list the treno coins before the coin in burmecia? Burmecia is disc one and treno is disc two!

Currently playing through now, I missed out on Gemini when I first got to Treno and it won't let me play as Steiner so do I have to replay up till that point?
