OP 8 Maya + Save File
By Take My Flame
Another guide focusing on one of the original 4 characters of Borderlands 2, I might make another one after this, not sure. For now, enjoy the build and I hope this helps anyone unsure of what to build upon with Maya.

Also, this time I used a real picture and not a screenshot, HA! lol

Intro

Maya is a character with the most co op based skills, and class mods, in the game. She can work well as a support character but what about her damage skills? A lot of her skills sadly go to waist against bosses like Bunker, Warrior and all raid bosses. So is her solo damage good without a Bee shield? Very much so. This build will go over all her skills that allow for insane damage and it will keep the girl alive without the use for a Grog Nozzle. Unless you're up against a raid boss, everyone knows a Bee and Grog will be needed.

This build will have some useful hints and useful ways to manage how Maya handles herself out in Pandora. Her skills will be focused among damage and survival. The gear will revolve on a bunch of SMGs and a sniper for slag and Res. Let's get started!
The Spec
Harmony tree, the heals;

Mind's Eye;

5/5 to increase your damage with crits. This is especially useful when you come across an Ironclad or Burning Psycho. The melee damage is neglegable.

Sweet Release;

A very sweet skill indeed, if your health is below half, one kill will keep you alive for longer. Very useful against heavy enemy gunfire.

Wreck;

Wreck. A skill that activates when you have an enemy in your phaselock. The fun part is getting the enemies grouped up and destroying everything!

Elated;

This skill is another one of your health skills. this will help you stay above healthgate. Don,t know what healthgate is? My previous guide explains it.. here!

Life Tap;

Now for the first kill skill in the build! ne that will make you almost invincible against bandits and bosses. Kinda useless for raid bosses, unless its Terra or a few others. This skill give you a 4.8% of life steal. Which means you ill get 4.8% of your health back based on all the damage you do. This includes gun, grenades, melee, jumping on enemies and other forms of damage. This will make your Sandhawk another Grog Nozzle so long as you keep killing scrubs lol.

Cataclysm tree, da good stuff!

Foresight;

5/5 in this skill for the DPS. reload speed lets you get those full clips in to keep spamming your bullets plus you get more bullets in your mag.

Helios;

The reasoon for this skill is it adds a reliable damage source that will keep you alive with Life Tap.

Emmolate;

This skill will add fire damage to your gun when you are in FFYL (Fight For Your Life) Why this skill you may ask if its a sure fire way to survive? There wot be a day in Pandor where you wont go down! Equip a slag weapon, something with a high fire rate, and viola, your back up!

Chain Reaction;

Aha! Here's a skill that allows you to wreck things with Wreck! While you have someone in your Phaselock, any bullet, this sadly doesnt work for E-tech SMGs, has a 40%, almost 50, chance to bounce off an enemy and hit another. This, plus Converge and Wreck, will allow you to damage, possibly kill, anyone near the bubble.

Cloud Kill;

Now I know what you're thinking. "this skill suuuucks it does no damage and other words!" Shuddup. After a recent patch, I think recent, Maya got a huge buff to her skills, Cloud Kill will kill slagged flesh targets at OP 8 and keep you alive with Life Tap.

Reaper;

80% gun damage on enemeis over 50% health. Period.

Ruin;

Insta-slag!

Motion tree;

Ward;

Some people dont like this skill but I enjoy the added recharge delay this skill, plus Inertia will help keep your sheilds up.

Inertia;

Exactly as the previous skill says, recharges 3.2% of your shield capacity per second helping you keep your sheilds up.

Converge;

A very useful skill when grouping enemies. This will help you get Life Tap and all your other sweet kill skills for even more damage and survival.

Accelerate;

A little boost to your overall damage. Your main weapon, Sandhawk, wont suffer at all with the little less damage. It's about hitting hard and taking hits.

Kinetic Reflection;

Another skill that works well with Life Tap. Having the damage reduction is nice but really what you want is chance to reflect. The damage done by a reflected bullet adds up to health with Life Tap.

Quicken;

Here is where the optional skill points go. The small cooldown rate is nice but even at 5/5 the skill will take some time. Plus with the bone and Binder COM you already have good cooldown.
Gameplay
Combat;

So running in guns blazing at OP 8 will never go well, unless your Sal and even he can have trouble. With this build you can but you sould still be careful, the gear will keep you alive so long as you kill things. What you want to do is phaselock the most dangerous enemies and kill at least one of the enemies that get pulled in with Converge to active Life Tap and your other pretty skills. Then you focus on your phaselocked enemy for your sweet release.

Healthgating;

Healthgating with Maya will not be a problem whatsoever. The regen you get you get with Elated will help you keep up with a DoT while you apply your wn DoTs with the help of Ruin and Chain Reaction. Once you get a kll, all your DoTs, plus damage stack up to almost instatly bring you to full healths while your shields recharge and soak up the rest of the DoTs on you. For added healthgating a Transfusion will bring health trails your way.

Raid bossing;

To kil a raid boss I did add elemental Bee shields to provide added defense from Pete, DRagon, Vorac and other bosses, not just raids, if you wanna farm for things and killing things faster. A lot of the kill skills will go to waste so if you wan you can add them to Quicken, Fleet, Accelerate or anywhere you see fit. The Grog will allow for easy healthgating when your in trouble. So dont spam Phaselock for slag, you have enough slag to keep the raid boss slagged and if you're going co op you'll need your phaselock to keep your buddies up.

Co op;

There are two ways for your co op play. General mobbing and raid bossing. Let's cover your generel mobbing first. So for mobbing you can remove all your points from Quicken and add it to Res and Scorn So you dont loose much DPS in combat. Most classes have regen skills strong enough to keep them above healthgate plus your Elated skill adds to thier regen keeping them alive. Restoration wont be much of a help with so much regen going on. Plus without Scorn the slag wont spread too far to help your buddies get a second wind if you happen to miss your Res, which is pretty common when there's a bunch of enemies grouped up around your buddies. The raid boss spec. This is where your Binder, or Nurse COM is used the most. Depending on the raid boss your up against, Vorac for example, there wont be much DoTs flying your way and you still want to hit hard. Binder will increase cooldown plus add other bonuses to co op play skills. With other fights, Like the dragons or Pete, the Nurse COM will boost everyone's regen to out heal the regen. When using the Nurse COM your Restoration skill comes in handy. 1 point will be more than enough to heal someone with a DoT. Make sure you keep Res however, Scorn isn't as useful as it is when mobbing.
Gear
Now for some more goodies!

Slagga;
For when you need a second wind. the mag size, fire rate, pellet count and Emmolate will get you back up, even in loader areas.

Sandhawk;
Your main damage weapon. terrible for second winds due to slow fire rate

Snider;
reliable slag and a good enough zoom to help your buddies with Res

Hyperion Plasma Caster;
For shielded Nomads and far away enemies

Beckah;
Becuase Maya isnt only good with SMGs

Norfleet;
For your raid boss second winds

Subcompact MG;
Another reliable second wind weapon. The Baby Maker works well but the aestethics of the gemstone makes me enjoy it more.

Grog Nozzle;
More raid boss needs.

Sheilds:

Antagonist;
Your main bread and butter.

Bee;
Raid boss essentials.

COMs (class mods)

Legendary Cat;
Damage, damage, damage, damage.

Legendary Nurse;
Because freindship is important.

Legendary Binder;
Reliable cooldown and reliable in any situation even solo.

Grenades:

Transfusion;
Extra health for you and freinds+slag.

Magic Missle;
Reliable slag and health against a raid boss.

Relics;

Bone of the Ancients;
Really th only relic you'll need for this build.

this doesn't work for me, do you have to own all of the DLC's to use this?
Take My Flame  [author] Jun 1, 2017 @ 10:37pm
I do, but the added burst delay becomes becomes EXTREMELY negligable when you couple it with an elemtantal relic. Plus a Sandhawk already have almost no delay which if thats your favorite gun elemental relics are a godsend. So if you wanna use em, go right ahead!
sh4rkz Jun 1, 2017 @ 9:08pm
when picking relic to use have you even considered the dahl burst delay relics?
