Achievement Guide: The Ragtime Blues

The questions and answers for the Ragtime Mouse quiz + extra info.

Points of interest:

• The Ragtime Mouse is always encountered with True and False, which resemble Circle and X respectively, on the PlayStation controller.
  
  
• The player attacks one or the other to answer true or false to the Ragtime Mouse's question.
  If the player attacks all enemies with a group-cast ability the Ragtime Mouse will act the same as if the player only attacked Ragtime Mouse and run away.
  
  
• It flees if attacked (even if the player inflicts more damage than his maximum health), and the only way to defeat it is to answer all sixteen questions.
  
  
• You will know if you encounter this creature because a song called "Faerie Battle" that also plays during the friendly enemies battles will play instead of the usual battle theme.
  
  
• You can meet the Ragtime Mouse:
  4 times on disc 1, 6+ times on disc 2, 6+ times on disc 3, or alternatively 16 times on disc 4 if you have not encountered in in previous discs.
  
  Be careful, if you are asked a question, you have 20 seconds to answer.
  If you do not answer within the 20 seconds, you are considered wrong no matter what.
  
  The reward is,
  EXP: 5963
  AP: 0
  Items: Protect Ring
  Gil: 5963
  
  Even getting one question wrong will result in you not getting all of the reward, you'll only get the protect ring.

The answer is yes, go right from Dragon's Gate and keep going straight to find the forest placed right in front of south gate.

No, it was written by Lord Avon.

Conde Petie is a home for goblins. (X)
No it's home to dwarves.

Theater Ship Prima Vista uses Mist as its source of energy. (O)

Some Mu's are friendly and do not attack. (O)
There is a Friendly Monster that is a Mu, accompanied with the same music that you will hear playing with Ragtime, so yes.

The Burkmeia Cable Cares were built 8 years ago. (O)

The 15th war of Lindblum broke out in 1600. (X)
In Alexandrian Square there is a statue of three pluto knights, it will tell you the war broke out in 1601.

The Air Cab in Lindblum runs 24 hours a day. (O)

The Prima Vista theater ship was built in Artania Shipyards. (X)
No, you find the info for this in the very first room in the game, where Zidane lights his candle.

I regularly replay FF9 almost yearly as I have a huge love for the game from my childhood and imagine my surprise to find a Ragtime Mouse guide using my fan art from 2015 as the thumbnail! Made my day!

Fun fact: The reason Ragtime Mouse gives 5963 XP and Gil is because in Japanese "5963" can be read as "Go Ku Ro San" essentially meaning "Good Job!" / "Well Done!"

I hid "5963" in the branches of the fan art as an easter egg.

CONFIRMED: Just ran into the ragtime mouse the 17th time..he gives you reward. So it takes 17 times..but last time is only for reward...the other 16 times are for the pop quiz.

One other note of info...there is cooldown after meeting the ragtime mouse in the forests. When you meet it, immediatly leave the forest and fight in the fields a couple fights, then go back to the forests and fight.

i believe @SPACE is right....you need to find it a 17th time after finding all it's regular questions. That is why Azex and Elaine Marley did not find him correctly. This guide needs to mention you need to find it 17 times..not 16.

Note: You need to answer all 16 questions AND THEN find ragtime a 17th time. The 17th time he says something like "wow 100% - no more questions" and explodes

I had @Elaine Marley 's problem and he didnt self destruct. he just said correct and the battle ended like normal. now im back on world map and achievment didnt happen :/

Wait, the other guides said you get to fight the Ragtime Mouse if you answer True to the last question and have got all answers correct, but it didn't happen for me, and I know for a fact I've had all questions correct (he said I had answered 100% of the questions correctly when I answered question 15)
