Description
Mod ID: 657538637

This mod adds a couple of scaffolding structures to assist with testing out and aligning structures. One is similar in to a ceiling but with more convenient snapping for pillars and foundations, the other is a matching wall. I created this mod because I didn't like how tedious it was to create elevated structures and how the clipping worked. I was also interested learning the tools necessary to create this (Blender, ARK Dev kit (UE4), GIMP, etc.). All models were created by me and the texture is based off something I downloaded from CGTextures (not so good at creating them... yet).

Note:This mod is clean/stackable and removing it will only remove scaffold structures currently placed in the world.

Structures
Scaffold Platform
Blueprint'/Game/Mods/Scaffold/Platform/PrimalItemStructure_Scaffold_Platform.PrimalItemStructure_Scaffold_Platform'
  • Custom Model with accurate collision (can place objects and shoot through it)
  • Snaps to everything a ceiling would
  • Ignores collision (can partially clip into existing terrain)
  • Can place 5 scaffolds out from a foundation structure, allowing 4 scaffolds between pillars without requiring intermediate support (see Configuration below)
  • Any ceiling structure can be snapped to replace it (even if clipped), but follows vanilla support rules
  • Top of pillar snaps to bottom of scaffold, no more small nub sticking through
  • Pillar can be attached to bottom of scaffold while standing on it
  • Foundation will snap to scaffold, useful in aligning foundations on other side of bridge
  • 0 Engram cost, but requires Wood Foundation, Ceiling and Pillar engrams to be learned first
  • Low material cost and weight, but low durability and no crafting exp
  • Can't place items on it

Scaffold Wall
Blueprint'/Game/Mods/Scaffold/Wall/PrimalItemStructure_Scaffold_Wall.PrimalItemStructure_Scaffold_Wall'
  • Custom Model with accurate collision (can place objects and shoot through it)
  • Snaps to everything a wall would
  • Ignores collision (can partially clip into existing terrain)
  • Any wall structure can be snapped to replace it (even if clipped)
  • 0 Engram cost, but requires Scaffold Platform engram to be learned first
  • Low material cost and weight, but low durability and no crafting exp

Configuration
Foundation check distance can be adjusted in the GameUserSettings.ini file. Add the following section to the bottom:
[Scaffold]
FoundationCheckRange=n
Where n can be:
  • -1 for no checking (engine still checks when breaking, so be careful going over 20)
  • 2 (normal) through 20 (values over 20 are forced to 20)
  • Other values will evaluate to 5

Greetings sir or madam. I appreciate the idea of this mod a great deal, but it seems to no longer function as intended - unless I am misunderstanding something. I intended to use this to help me position lights on a large ceiling but putting the scaffolding up actually replaces the ceiling piece, leaving only the scaffolding. Having not been updated in four years, I assume that you've moved on from Ark and won't be updating. Should you ever decided to do so, it would be appreciated. Thank you, live long and prosper.

SUGGESTION
Imagine you have 3 walls on top, and below one wall at the right and one wall at the left. In the middle is therefore a gap - a missing wall. If we want to use this gap as a wide door, we would need some framing, some sort of scaffolding: a vertical beam on the left, a vertical beam on the right, a horizontal beam ion top, and two tiny diagonal beams at the upper right and left edges.

@SSG Dayton Would it be possible to add an option to pick-up the scaffolding when we're done? I actually use it when I'm building high buildings. It'd be nice to pick it up like the item's in S+.

I use them extensively during construction, later replacing them with stone, or metal. Otherwise I use them as fence reinforcement.

Could you make this with irrigation and be able to use running water with it ? That would be alsome It would be a lot easer makeing farming.
