Snowfall THEME - OLD Try a newer Snowfall theme

Description
OLD Theme - This was one of the first themes out on the workshop.

Please note: this is just a temporary band-aid. In order to make a truly custom theme, the map theme editor requires someone who knows texture mapping and all that stuff, so.. that wouldn't be me I made this just to tide me over. By the way, if you don't like totally whilte mountains (totally reasonable), there are quite a few snowy map themes out now that also take the yellow! Have fun shopping, pick what you like!

How to paint the two snowy textures and paint the ice: BloodyPenguin's More Landscaping Tools gives you pretty much anything you would want from resource painting to a tree brush to a terrain editing brush... it's astounding. Check it out here, works great. Sand, Oil and Ore (the three "paints" in this pack) can be drawn on your map using the resource brush of this mod:

This pack is for Snowfall maps / cities. You can change to this map theme when you load a new map or load your existing game or start a new one.

********************
- Nighttime looks more like TPB's proof of concept Skyscape:
- Brilliant, beautiful universe effect (visible milky way and nebula)
- Stars are much brighter
- Bluey tint as close as I could get to Skyscape

- Lowered Fog events, Increased Snow events.
- Moved to a higher latitude so the sun runs a little lower on the horizon.
- Increased Aurora incidence
- Water colors (under and clean) have been changed to closer match the glacier ice color
- Fertile has no color effect at all, farm fields are white snow
- Oil has a very rough snowy texture that has an extremely subtle hint of dormant grass underneath rough broken up snow. You can use mod mentioned below to paint this just like the glacier ice!
- Cliff (mountainside) is based off of the oil texture above. Any hint of green whatsoever was taken out, and the result is pretty decent. A cliff texture that really looks nice and seamless, and has a distinct roughness to it. Snowy, but hints of grey rock, too, visible in the shadows
- Grass is a fluffy texture whose little sparkles hopefully show up, but doesn't matter if not
- Ore is a very muted (transparency) crackled bluish tint to the snow. It works pretty well I think
- Sand as ice - As before, you can use sand to paint ice in a muted, more natural glacier ice color than you see in photos (I dunno, is it really that amazingly blue?) It looks great along the shoreline, or underwater near the shore is nice, it will deepen the icy color it already is, sort of gives it a shinier look (kinda like ice :D )

PROGRESS NOTES:
21 Feb: I really dislike the current colors of sunrise sunset. Will be fixing that. This is a slow process even just for a minor changing theme pack like this one.

Map theme Fully snowy mountains, bluish glacier ice (snow) and absolutely no yellow snow!

I would have made such a thing of course... the problem is that the way the different layers come together, it is not possible to make one that looks right outside of Snowfall. It always looks like mud. So there's really no way to get around it. I absolutely love Snowfall and I think you will too, you can get it for SUPER cheap during the sales. :)

Hi, you can have that with Väterchen Frost theme. I really recommend it! :) I use it too. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=782343087&searchtext=

Any way to feel the snow more white, like in the montains and cliffs? I want to make a snowy ski station. Sorry about my english

Yep, my computer is almost the same power. I can run just over 400 very carefully chosen assets, and it gets a lot better when I turn off the other DLCs that I'm not using for the snowy city. There's some bad stuff out there on the WS that will drag your computer down. Also, if your turn off dynamic weather, your game's processing will do a lot better. Have fun!

ok at the time i got it i didn't have the snow fall dlc, so i thought it was something that made it seem like winter, got got the dlc from the halloween sale. my computer isn't a gameing one but i can play ok, but i just have to unsub to mods/assests so i can play smoother. (even though i only have 400 ish, some have way over that and can play well)

Oh, not sure I answered everything. You can use these "map themes" on any map or current city save that has its assigned default theme. The aim is to customize the looks, and they can tweak everything, even sky color.
So, this one is for Snowfall, and works only in Snowfall. As another example, there's a red desert theme that is made for Temperate environment, and it works only for maps or city saves that were created in Temperate. I hope that makes sense. Confusing

Hi RyFox122, glad to help. This was made when Snowfall was newly published. This is a theme that only works in Snowfall - It aimed to improve the looks (there are some really odd colors that were chosen for Snowfall default). This theme is really old, though, and in the past year we've had some really talented folks start making themes.

I really recommend taking a look at Hadece's Vätterchen Frost theme made for Snowfall. Your eyes will bug out when you see the cool visual effects, expecially how the rock looks like real rock, and it's even a small theme size - my computer can't run those 4K themes well. I'm using Vätterchen Frost right now, in fact ;) http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=782343087&searchtext=

To see the difference between default rock and Hadece's rock textures, see this gif. I wish I had this kind of talent :steamhappy: http://cloud-3.steamusercontent.com/ugc/771651069827927677/7159BCD72F84A239CB2A88C2FB80D2F534287140/

So this basically is just something for those who don't have the snowfall dlc? I have it so just wanting to know if I still need this or if it's a map of some sort I could use
