ArmorVariety

Description
This mod allows you to combine any armor pieces in the game, including civilian outfits. These pieces are only available in the soldier customization screen, so soldiers will never start with any of these. This mod does not add any armor pieces, but there are many other mods that do this.

This mod does not take effect in the character pool editor, only in the Avenger armory (see note #3)

Note May 15: the Alien Hunter DLC contains new armor. These armors give abilities, such as Rage Fist, which have custom animations. You can equip one of these armors, and then use Armor Variety to replace the visual effect of the armor with any other armor. If you do this, you can still use the ability, but the animation will not play. (Thanks to Albino Blacky for helping to understand the problem.)

Update May 13: no new functionality, recompiled and updated after the Alien Hunters patch. No known problems but recompiled just to be sure.

Update March 20: re-added the "invisible" armor pieces

Update March 17: the Anarchy's Children patch fatally broke this mod, but I have fixed the problem.

Notes:

1. General warning about mods: if you uninstall the mod, save games using this mod will fail.

2. For some torsos, choosing specific arms and legs may result in the soldier's arms and legs becoming invisible. If you find this, please choose the arms and legs options which are the last ones in the picklists. These allow the torso to supply its own arms and legs.

3. In the vanilla game, you may customize a soldier in the character pool, and use veteran options. When the soldier appears as a rookie, all these options are lost. Therefore, this mod does not take effect in the character pool; it only takes effect in the armory.

4. The armor is not sticky. When you gain a new armor tech, the armor will be reset to armor for that tech.

5. The torso, arm and leg picklists only display numbers, just like the vanilla game. There are more options, so the numbers are larger.

Is there any way to remove the gear from Torso Gear, Thighs or Shins? Since those lists don't seem to have a "None" option it seems like once you select one, you're permanently stuck with it. I tried changing my armor to something else and back and that doesn't seem to have worked.

Is this compatible with The Long War 2?

I not only have the problem the previous comment mentions (many, many duplicate entries) but another weird issue is that it messes up my character pool customization options; even though I have the empty WotC deco mods for heroes and regular XCOM guys, none of the empty options show up under the Torso Gear, Thighs and Shins options unless I'm in an active game. This means that new characters can be created, spawn with WotC decorations that I don't necessarily want, and then I'm unable to get rid of them. Right now I'm working around the latter issue by deactivating ArmorVariety when I'm just working in the character pool, but the former issue seems unsolvable by anything other than going into the guts of the mod and fixing whatever the problem is.

This one multiplies multiplies several of my extension gears by 8, all in all producing like 1500 items to schose from. With a slow computer I can imagine that it is "locked for 10 minutes" as mentioned before. Despite that I hardly am able to find my items, so I had to remove it.

Not sure if it's just because I have too many customization mods, or one particular mod that's incompatible with this one, or just this one's broken or something, but this mod hard-locks my game when I go into props menu. I don't have WotC, but that's not listed as a requirement for this mod. I've given it literally 10 minutes or more and it doesn't 'fix' itself like what happens with other mods that cause a similar lock. It's so bad that I literally have to hit the Windows key and log out of my computer in order to be able to do anything, and then disable this mod in order to be able to play. I've tried this on two different computers and the same thing happens on both.

Yeah it doesn't work, no armors show up at all, period. Can't find anything in torso, under normal kelvar, or Resistance kelvar, nothing in arms or legs. Either I'm missing something or this is just a broken mod at this point.

Does not work with WOTC. :(

I've noticed a bug in WOTC where some of the vanilla armor parts can't be recolored. Has anyone else noticed this and/or know of a solution?

Can anyone update it?
