Dacia - Barbarian Expansion

Description
Barbarian Expansion adds 3 new semi-realistic units that you and the AI will use and 6 reskins to Dacian factions (Getae, Biephi and Bastarnae - Grand Campaign) (Dacia, Bastarnae, Thrace - Imperator Augustus)

Discussion reveals how they are recruited in campaign

Background

Ever wondered why Romans had trouble conquering Dacia when all they fielded was a unit called "Spears" that gets destroyed by celtic Levy Freemen? Ever wondered why the Dacian Falxmen are rumoured to be so deadly when they can't defeat anything? This mod tries to fix out the oddities and even the odds a little.

After chainmail technology the Dacians surely become a force to be reckoned with. But the only infantry type one can field is armoured spearmen and even more armoured spearmen.

These new units add a new approach for Dacians to battle out. They have dangerous falxmen to flank the enemies. They have bloodthirsty swordsmen to counter infantry head-on.

The Dacians gameplay were inbalanced in my opinion and I added these to balance the odds. The backbone of the Dacians are still their armoured spearmen, so most armies will have many spears. The new falxmen are meant to flank enemies and strike their backs as they are occupied with the spearmen, they are by no means a front-line type of infantry. The swordsmen are relatively hard to get, they require a building provided only by settlements with walls and they can be quite expensive.

These new units adds a more balanced gameplay for the Dacians and makes them more interesting to play since their falxes are now actually useful and deadly if used properly.

Units

Unit Description:
Adds 3 new units for all dacians to use. 2 require technologies and 1 from a building only provided by cities. They are usable in Custom Battle, Grand Campaign and Imperator Augustus. The AI are aware of these units and will use them if they can.

New Units:
Noble Falxmen - An armoured falx-wielding unit.
Manhunters - Reliable swordsmen.
Falx Warriors - Looks like Falxmen but wear capes and uses guerilla tactic to easier flank enemies. Share same stats as Falxmen except higher attack (hit chance). In other words, they are much more reliable Falxmen.

Reskins

Reskin description:
Most of the reskins are simply added hats and men with bare torsos.

Reskinned Units:
Bowhorsemen
Dacian Archers
Dacian Skirmishers
Dacian Heavy Skirmishers
Spears
Spear Warriors

Help

I would gladly hear peoples opinion about these 3 new units as I haven't had as much time to check if they are truly balanced myself.

Noble Falxmen - I believe them to be balanced but if you want to say something you are free to go but its likely they will stay the same.

Manhunters - They are recruited on a different way than most other soldiers of Dacia. The question about the Manhunters is if they are worth the hassle. They need a special building only acquired from walled settlements (and they are the only recruitable unit also from that building), they are some of the more costly units of Dacia and they are a reliable melee force. As said, due to their cost, their required building available only to walled settlements - are they worth what they provide?

Falx Warriors - They are supposed to flank enemies, not engage face to face. Armies should not become victorious by only using Falx Warriors. I would gladly hear from anyone if they believe that the Falx Warriors are overpowered.

More From Me!

I am a spokesperson of balanced gameplay and semi-realism (I don't like to go full Spartan Legionaires that has no weakness. But I can accept the thought of Parthia having untrained lancers that are equivalent to Steppe Lancers)

If you like Dacia - Barbarian Expansion, try out my other mod called Kings of East - Eastern Expansion!

Could it be possible to reskin Iberians as bare torsos (the ones who have no armours) it feels they are in pyjamas, please.
Especially the Painted Warriors, its very awkward that they are just face painted, Imagine a briton like this

Nice mod! i think making the swordmen available from city building is great. And i like how u only added a few units not to change them to much but make them more interesting. I think that noble falxmen would be better of as armoured falxmen on the same health and morale level as the armoured spearmen seeing how getae aleady have two noble infantry plus it would be more realistic,(but i understand u are not looking for 100% historical accuracy). And that would make them more usable for people not wanting their mainlines out of nobles so as to make the armoured falxes an addition to the main line next to the spearmen but not an army core.i think the guerila falxmen are nce as well as the vanilla falxes are completely shit for late game, something that the armoured falxmen would fix nicesly.

You mentioned first ''semi-realistic''; but letting it your way is 100% unrealistic.

i appreciate what you have told me. We are different people with different opinions and we like different things. it is just a game and 100% historical accuracy am i not sure if i myself would want in rome 2.

I tell this because i am different person than you, we won't always agree on the same. I am not you, thus i cannot make everything you want. I don't want to sound unfriendly, i only give you my honesty so you know what you can expect.

Now i understand what you say. I will see what i will do with them.

I think you should know that chances are that i might make things that won't always satisfy you and then things that might have your approval.

i listen on what you say but unfortunately i might not always agree with what you want to institute. this is a mod i make on my own free time on my own hands mainly for me and my friends. i do it public because others might appreciate but not everyone of course will do.
