Me 262 A-1/U4 ground pound guide (RBGF)
By Foxtrot39
Basic of how to use this aircraft as a anti tank gun since the Ho 229 V3 BR bump (because flying tanks weren't happy), or for the narwhale player who want to get rid of pesky postwar tank while flying

Pre-requirements
Ammo belt unlock (because HEIT rounds won't help here)

Gun modification (you don't have many shots so any accuracy gain is worth here)

Don't use HVAP, the lack of explosif is more penalizing you, and with the angle of attack/target area you don't need so much penetration anyway

Cockpit/virtual cockpit only, you have the best accuracy in those views as your aim also is more close to the actual gun ballistic characteristics
Steep dive pounding
For the angle of attack the steeper the better near 90° everything that hit is likely to penetrate, if you played the Ho 229 V3 before, just do the same but think that the Me 262 take longer to pull up

Best altitude would be around 1.5km before diving :

-The time you need to start the dive and to re-position your aircaft you will leave you with only a few seconds to fire at the enemy

-When nearing the ground (about 500m) its seriously gonna be the time to pull up if you don't want to crash

The pull up altitude is not very accurate so pull up sooner and judge by youself how low you can go without crashing

Pros

High attack exit speed

Allow to penetrate some hard point of the tank

Harder for AA to lead/hit you (depending how far you are from them)

Cons

Low accuracy

Time consuming
45-70° dive pounding
Your target will be the engine compartement to cause fuel fire or fuel tank explosion (work well vs T10M)

-Get at altitude of about 500-700m, no real need to go higher as you aim low armored components

-Attack target from behind, its better if your plane and he's chassis are aligned

-Make sure that during the dive you have a big hit surface for the engine/fuel tanks

-Shoot the engine to immobilize and burn target

Pros

Easier to do

Better accuracy

Cons

In AA range

Moderate-low exit speed

Easier target for high end prop planes

Targets
Any medium/heavy tank

-Aim turret top for crew/gun damage, chance of instant kill on postwar russian and IS series (steep dive)

-Aim the engine to set it on fire

Light tank and AA

-Due to your firerate and ammo capacity don't shoot those, you end up overpenetrating them and so just wasting your ammo

If you still want to do so then shoot them from the side for maximum chance of doing any damage

As the guide was written pre-hull break addition & forgotten afterwards quick update on that matter

-Light tanks should be shot at the engine as its easier to hit while still reliably causing hull breaks

-AA are still unrecomended to attack due to the required linear attack, if you do, engage them when they're either distracted or at an angle they don't expect/see you coming from

Those targets can be engaged at any angle due to their low armor protection

Thanks for updating the guide for hull break, sorry I didn't realize when this guide was posted.

Hull break was updated so that kinetic rounds can cause it if hitting vital modules such as gun breache, engine & transmission, death cam is just not showing it as hull break

Though it was also for mainly 75mm

The engine destruction sometimes causing tank death isn't a hull break feature, and hull break seems to only apply to 75mm HE and above against 25mm and less armoured targets (Which is actually worse than before hull break).

Make me think of that I gotta update it on that matter

Hull break didn't existed when I wrote this guide

Good guide, but you can usually hul break SPAAs and some light tanks, so I would reccomend to aim for the engine when engaging light targets. However, nice guide!

HVAP actually suffers from a more serious issue (I hate filler). HVAP and most standard AP rounds shatter on contact with armour, which is why capped shells exist (Not because they have filler).

Id recommend using the AP with explosive filler, solid shot isn't going to do much damage nor start a fire easely

What ammo should I use?
