Summerset Cabin

Description
With the Dragon's convenient appearance, you've miraculously escaped Helgen. But what now? As a fugitive on the run, you're looking for shelter, but will a cave really do, long-term? After all, it's a long way to the 5000 bones you need for Breezehome...meanwhile, where do you store your loot? What about all those dilapidated shacks scattered through Tamriel? Absent landlords be damned, if you find one, your moving in and taking over.

Summerset Cabin in one such abandoned domicile. Perhaps it was a homesteader's toehold, or a bandit hide-out, or a thief's den, but now it's yours. What will you make of it?

FIRST YOU HAVE TO FIND IT. Running away from Helgen, turn left and keep north along the snow line, if you'd like to come upon it by accident. To get directions, go to the Guardian Stones and take the road north to the sign post. Touch it for a map marker.

The Cabin is in awful shape, as one might expect, but with a little elbow grease, you can cut back the trees and start to repair. By the end, it won't be a palace, but it will have all the amenities, including varied storage, crafting stations, a full smithy with smelter and a garden. You can customize the decoration with a hunter's spoils or a herbalist's simples. It is lore friendly, and best of all, NO LOAD SCREENS.

Navameshed, weather clipped, and cleaned with TESEdit, it will be compatible will any mod that doesn't directly affect cell <Wilderness 1, -18> or the weather system (I have posted a separate version of this mod that will work with CoT) .

Thank you to Xilante, for the original weather script and (especially) Darkfox127, not only for the CoT version, but also the Riverside Shack, which was my inspiration. Thank you also to Anthony Bellingham and all the great modders who generously post scripts and tutorials. You have made modding so much fun.

This version of Summerset Cabin is for vanilla Skyrim weather, and requires Hearthfires DLC.
A Climate of Tamriel version has been posted separately.

Please rate if you like it. Thanks.

Such a great simple essential well-thought out mod, appreciate that you have the Dragonborn work for all the improvements so it doesn’t feel OP. Only note on my set up is that I stopped playing with music and so the continual flapping sound from the blinds gets kind of haunting. I turn on the fire to drown it out. Thank you! Still great in 2021!

This is one of the best starter homes out there. Well done! The ONLY thing I would change would be to have an enchanting station. Other than that for a starter home it is awesome. It is very close to the player home that I would like to make myself if I can ever learn the creation kit well enough of find someone I can hire to help me.

Great mod! Customized it with Jaxonz Positioner, and it's the perfect house for my conjurer/necromancer. I especially love the interactive lights/fires and creative storage places (instead of just barrels and sacks etc.).

This will be great for a necromancer to hide and bring bodies for experiments! Thanks!

Hello Elizabeth, as I told you previously this mod is my personal must have mod for skyrim.
I was excited about the potential conversion to SSE eversince the SSE release. You indicated
in the past that you would look into into the feasability. I realize that something like this takes a lot
of personal time but it is highly appreciated by your mod subscribers.
This is truly the most wonderful mod. Thanks again.

having recently started playing SKSE (skyrim special edition) i have to admit i miss having this amazing mod as it isnt yet avalible on there so wanted to follow up my other coments by asking if a version of this mod will be avalible for SKSE.

also if it will be made avalible will it be compatible with the "frostfall" and "campfire" mods; if it can be it would make a very welcome addition to the over all immersion of those mods due to the survival aspect and the whole re-construction aspect of this otherwise flawless mod.

let me know as i miss this amazing mod and feel the loss everytime i play SKSE

while i love this mod and consider it 1 of the essentiel mods for skyrim there are a few tweaks it could do with to make it shine more. there would be.

1.) replace the chair by the door with the throne by the fire
2.) bigger garden area
3.) small quest and backstory for the cabin which brings in why there is also a small unmarked grave near it

This Mod is a MUST Have! The best starter home mod the game has to offer! I agree it wouuld be GREAT to see it included in Special Edition - Still, without a doubt one of the best mods ever created - the wash bucket alone, elevates this mod into top ten!

Hi nicola_mcnally, sorry I missed your comment.

Thanks very much! This is the mod I personally use every time I play. It's my daughters' favourite mod as well (they don't actually get to play, just watch sometimes). It took me ages! It will be the first one I transfer to SE.
