Description

You may have come across a set of 11 blocky, NPC-filled, co-op maps which has been uploaded and reuploaded a few times. Not a single one of them contain the authors name. Just for a reminder, the maps can be found here or here on garrysmod(.)org.[garrysmods.org] After a bit of searching, I eventually found the maps I've uploaded here, except these have the name "Pursoup" in them. I'd imagine the versions I've uploaded are a much later edition than the packs I've hyperlinked to.

The maps in this pack have some recognizable places and things, while others have gone through massive overhauls. Some of the maps do have the problem of throwing far too many waves of enemies at you for a single room or continually spawning them in, usually next to a button. All of the maps are much more detailed and most of them contain a completely different route, occasionally with some backtracking.

I would personally suggest playing these in multiplayer, or with some powerful weapons, as the NPC spawning can be relentless at times.

The following maps are included in this pack

- level01_synb2_entryway_of_doom.bsp
- level02_synb2_tricks_and_traps.bsp
- level03_synb2_underground.bsp
- level04_synb2_across_the_darkness.bsp
- level05_synb2_diehard.bsp
- level06_synb2_base.bsp

level06_synb2_base doesn't progress properly, after a fight with 2 antlion guards, under a spinning combine energy beam/reactor/something, backtrack up the steps until you reach a door with a red light above it, put your crosshairs on it, then type in console "ent_fire !picker unlock" and you should be able to progress

- level08_synb2_a_place_to_die.bsp
- level09_synb2_choose_your_destiny.bsp (Missing some textures)
- level10_synb2_end_of_evil_part1_b1.bsp

There is no end_of_evil_part2, or any maps after this. This map pack never got completed in any of its incarnations as far as I know.

That's because they're not familiar that these maps were designed for Synergy in mind.

Most of the spawners on these levels are set to spawn new NPC after one of previously spawned NPCs is killed after spawner's cooldown ends. It can cause issues when all spawned enemies are killed before spawner cooldown is over. For that particular instance in level07 type in console "ent_fire make_fz3 enable" and "ent_fire make_fz4 enable". These commands will set FZombie spawners to create new ones regardless of if the condition above is fulfilled, allowing you to progress normally.

UPDATE ON THE SOFTLOCK OF THE SEVENTH LEVEL: Even if you noclip past the white doors on the third floor that remains locked even after killing all of the fast zombies, the map does nor work anymore, as no Vortigaunt spawn or it does not allow for progress. As I said before, means level07_synb2_scary_dark_house.bsp is impossible to complete (at least to my end), but rather softlocks permanently after the onslaught of fast zombies inside the house.

level07_synb2_scary_dark_house.bsp softlocked after an onslaught of fast zombies. After killing all of the fast zombies, the white door does not unlock like it should have, making further progress impossible unless you noclip.

These maps suck, all of them just really suck. None of them are clear on how to play them, all of them have annoying ass NPC spawns, parts of the maps just can't function unless you give yourself explosives to break barriers because the map designer didn't playtest, and lastly each of them have infinite enemy spawners that even on the x64 branch lag your game. Waste of three of my hours playing these.
