Storm Trooper

Description
Storm Trooper is a solo card game where you control a squad of 9 German storm troopers crossing a section of the Western front eliminating all enemies encountered in the trench-covered, debris strewn landscape of World War I.

There are 3 card decks that you must make:

A terrain deck of 50 cards to create the 5 row, 10 column "board" that you must cross to eliminate all enemies. Terrain cards have a defensive modifier and show start positions of enemy units.
An enemy deck of 20 cards, representing units of 1 to 16 men. Eliminate all enemies to win the game.
A storm trooper deck of 45 cards that modify your squad's combat, defense, or movement.

Your squad is represented by a single pawn or token. You may begin at the foot of any column with a hand of 4 storm trooper cards.

Each turn, after you draw 1 card, your squad advances to any adjacent space and if in range of an enemy first they attack and then you have an opportunity to attack them. Enemies range in strength of 1 to 16 men. Pennies, tokens, or scrap paper should be used to keep track of men. Some battles may last over several turns or you may want to leave some battles unfinished until you get the cards and the confidence to return to them.

To play the game with 2 players (or more), field two squads of storm troopers playing cooperatively, but competing to be the first to capture an enemy HQ space (say, one of the "blockhouse" cards) agreed upon by the players before beginning the game.

DISCLAIMER: I've updated some stuff, added miniatures from A&A and accessories, but the "card pack" was initially found on Nexus, thanks to Mastermaul. I'll keep updated/functionable as long as i can.

Rediscovering this put a bit of drive back in me, so I've ported a game that people who enjoy this might find interesting, "Trenches of Valor".

It's a simple but more traditional wargame that's also about trench raiding and infiltration.

Oh, no, the game rules aren't mine either.

The guy is a big fan of making tons of small microgames.

The game is nice, i think few people on BoardGameGeek would love to print it out and play it. If it's an idea of your, it can easily be proposed to the Single Player games design contest.

I uploaded it to nexus before TTS had a steam workshop and before custom 3D model support was added, so it's quite old. I typically don't make this sort of thing, it was very spontaneous.

I made all the cards myself, including the design and such, but obviously the images and card backing artwork were just grabbed off the internet so I don't really have any claim to some grand originality. Honestly, the thing that took the most time after I got the general format of the cards set up was finding suitable images for everything. It's quite difficult to find a relevant image of a bangalore torpedo for the first world war.

I thought about uploading it awhile ago but figured no one would really be interested since there was no response on the nexus. Since it's already here, there's not really any point in removing it. I'd hate to see the people who had subscribed not being able to play it all of a sudden.

Mastermaul! I did hope you would appear sooner or later. The game is really nice and it was weird to not have it on Steam while others are uploading tons of crap, so i took the liberty to spice it up with some miniatures and add it to Steam. Is it a modification or completely original? If you want to upload it just let me know, i can even remove it if you want to.

Unfortunately there are only few people who look at nexus and most of them are looking for Munchkin and other games that can't be uploaded here on Steam.

@FreddieFreeman, i'll check asap what's going on.

You're welcome.

I thought about uploading this myself but whatever, it's nice to see people actually played it and enjoyed it. No one ever commented on the nexus. Cards took be like 5 days to make from scratch.

Im having trouble with this. its saying that im missing models? (aparently storm trooper models? and such.. have this problem ever happened before?)

I must say, this is a very good game. I have played it quite a lot of times, and I had fun in each one.

My main problem is the difficulty and some cards.

Right now, this game is very, very difficult. Now, this is not always bad, but sometimes it is impossible to win in some matches.

The Egg Granade, for example, deals -1 damage to the enemy, but it removes the fortification of the enemy trench (which is generally -1), making it`s ability practically useless.

Although this is a very good game, I sincerely hope you keep developing it, adding more decks and fixing some of the cards.

Glad you liked it! You're right, i wasn't sure about it myself, it's really distracting, but i like the B&W aerial view. :D

Anyway, i've uploaded a fix, please check if that's okay now. :)
If you're gonna do a 100-cards session i probably have to enlarge the play area a bit more. :dewey:

I had my first full play tonight. Awesome game conversion! I was killed, but had fun playing it, I will most definitely give it another go, thank you for the mod.

One thing is a bit distracting, and that's the table background of the aireal view. Could that be toned down a bit?
