Small biogas facility

Modular sewage treatment facility

As I modelled most of my sewage treatment facility after Mariagerfjord Rensningsanlæg in Denmark I had to include their little biogas building. Instead of just making it decorative I made it into an incinerator. This way it picks up trash (sludge) from the other buildings and turn it into energy. It's way more efficient than the real thing, but I also felt like it should actually do something.

Ofc as CS's garbage truck drivers aren't very smart, these go all over the city instead of to the buildings right next to them (unless there's no road ofc! :P ) even though their collection radius is very small. It can keep up with the garbage from the two buildings, two clarifiers and two sedimentation tanks, but eventually it will fill up and need to "burn" off it's garbage.

Update 17/1: Changed the stats a bit. I increased the cost, upkeep and electricity use. Let me know how it feels now balance wise. :)

This is probably one of my favorite assets, Not only does it fill a nice niche role of helping to dig garbage out of all the isolated places on the map, it also doesn't look out of place in almost any kind of neighborgood. in fact the tanks help it to really fit in and embellish places. it is not only functional but practical and fitting.

@Avanya - Oh, I don't blame you for that. I knew it was the default AI. I still love the whole treatment facility, as in my town I didn't want to pollute what little beachfront property I had. I just restructured the layout of my complex so that the truck drivers are forced to drive by the front of every building on their way to town.

@Blake Walsh: Good advice. I put it slightly higher since it has the benefit of not polluting.

@Michael Brandon Morris: I've tweeked the stats a bit to make it more balanced. Any feedback to get a good balance is appreciated. In the end though I made this mainly for the look and to go with the other buildings. I'd like to make it decently balanced but I'll admit I haven't done the same kind of homework on it as the other buildings.

@Smokerbait: Yeah, the garbage truck AI is very annoying. Even though the radius for collection is small they still go all over. Sadly there's nothing I can do about that. In my tests though you can force them to only go to these buildings by removing the road connection to the rest of your city. That means you'll need services just for those ofc (fire and police was enough in my test). Hopefully the truck drivers will get an update and become smarter in the future. :)

Love the sewage treatment facility as a whole, but yes, the Biogas drivers are totally incompetent. I placed two inside the treatment complex, and garbage STILL piles up. They DRIVE BY the other building next to them with "Garbage Piling Up" warning icons floating above them to head off to the city (which is far away). Garbage is usually picked up by the standard city incinerators.

Far too overpowered. These can be easily spam-placed all over a city and will entirely replace other power and garbage facilities with ease. They are loud, but the size means they can be placed just about anywhere.

I love it, but I think the upkeep should be 240 - then it would cost the same per unit of garbage disposed as the incinerator, while still generating power more cheaply than Oil.
