if u are byzantine emperor you control the religious head. Anyways i just launched a crusade on muslim italty for the kingdom of italy. My second of the four great churches i must conquer

Good in principle, but you might want to add weights for the title; otherwise crusades keep getting called for random kingdoms, instead of the logical targets

The first crusade was called the reqeust of the orthodox roman emperor

But the Orthodox church never used crusaders. The Orthodox Councils specifically denied that fallen warriors could be given the designation holy. For the Orthodox Church wars could be just but they could never be holy.
