Ability Draft Reborn

Two years ago, we had the vision to make the Ability Draft to meet competitive standards. We initiated the idea with two tournaments, DotA2VO Ability Cup #1 & DotA2VO Ability Cup #2. The audience seemed happy with the idea and after the release of the Workshop Tools, we decided to adjust the Ability Draft for our future tournament which is the Ability Cup #3.

The major issue with the default Ability Draft is the aspect of randomness which means that teams cannot actually coordinate their play or employ a certain strategy.
We were pleased to implement two draft modes: AP and CM where were added the picking and banning stages which eliminated the aspect of randomness and hopefully make the mode more appealing for a professional standard.
The original Ability Draft has 12 randomly selected heroes in the available pool of which only 10 are players. During this stage, both teams have to pick and ban heroes each.
Each player in the team will select the hero they want to play and will proceed to pick their skills in the next stage - this hasn't changed - we did, however, add visual improvements.

• Further stabilize the picking and banning stages
  
• Add 10x10 map and All Pick draft mode for heroes
  
• Improve the drafting interface to improve usability
  
• Fix various bugs that come from the original Ability Draft which occur during the interaction of specific skills
  
• Add heroes with more than 5 skills (such as Rubick, Doom and others)
  
• Host regular championships with monetary prize pools.

Our goal is to raise this mode to an acceptable standard in order to hold our championships using this mode instead of the original and prove that it can be used on a professional level.
We are hoping that, in the future, Valve will enable the option of creating a custom game lobby with a tournament ticket, since the ticket is already in the game.
