[INCOMPLETE] Borderlands 2 DLC Challenges Guide
By [ ]bakusu[ ]
This guide will serve as a means for anyone looking to complete the DLC challenges to do so. It will also serve as a sort of "hole-filler" for this guide which accidently left a few maps out. However, since this guide won't be covering nearly as much, I will also include screenshots of the map. Also unlike the other guide, I will not be using any 3rd party tools (but thats just because I'm too dumb to even figure out how to make a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ macro for taking one screenshot without HUD and gun). I will also include reviews of not just the legendaries but just any gun that has text. This might take awhile though since less than a month after starting this I will be starting my senior year in high school, so please be patient.

Do or Die
Find out why Axton came to Pandora
(Chronologically speaking, the 4th echo is actually the 3rd recording)

Description: The first ECHO is in the dumpster outside the train station.

Description: The second ECHO is on a rooftop in the northeast part of main street.

Description: This next one is next to where you fight the sheriff in Gunslinger Corner (because apparently that's her office).

Description: The fourth ECHO is in the van near the Marcus Munitions in Gunslinger Corner.

Last Train To Nowhere
Kill the banit riding the five o' clock train

Cult of the Vault x2

Description: On the northeast part of Main Street, there's a pharmacy where you get Dukino's medicine. This is on the roof of that.

Description: This one's kind of tricky. It's located across from the Sheriff's office, but to get to it, you have to do the following:
  1. Turn off the generator to an electrical field
  2. Go up the elevator to the upper half of the area
  3. Open the chest near the elevator
  4. Use said chest's lid to climb up onto the rocks
  5. Jump down to the roofs below

That's Impossible, Even for a Computer
Land a grenade in the refinery's exhaust port

Strategy: Despite the challenge's name, this is actually super ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ easy. All you need is a longbow grenade, and then you just have to go to the area, clean house so no one will bother you, then time the throw. It only took me one try.

Description: The refinery in question is the giant building where the detonater is from the mission 3:10 To Boom

Take turns and play nice
If you tend to play alone, like I do, then i'ts only useful if you tend to be knocked down a lot and need more FIght for Your Life time. If you play with others, it'll only be useful if somebody has the Deputy's Badge equipped.
Deputy's Badge
Relic
Deputy Winger
Who the hell shot me?
Useless when alone, okay if other people also have it.
Bane

Mission: The Bane
in Spain, stays mainly on the plain
Great for a laugh.
Buffalo
Sniper rifle
Mission: Demon Hunter
Bison Bison had had had had had Bison Bison Bison shi shi shi
This is actually a pretty deece sniper. The fact that all variations of this weapon are ironsights only is actually kind of neat. However, contrary to it being a Jakobs, it has a terrible fire rate.
Trivia
  • Sheriff Nisha is Handsome Jack's girlfriend. Not only that, but she is a playable character in Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, and she, like all of the other non-DLC playable characters, first met Jack in this story. In fact, it is because, in this storyline, Jack was a decent human being and not a piece of ♥♥♥♥ that these characters came to trust and respect (and in Nisha's case, love) Jack.
  • Jack was originally going to name the town New New Haven, but Nisha was able to persuade him to name it Lynchwood instead of something moronic like New New Haven.
  • Over an announcement in Lynchwood, Deputy Winger will talk about the Sheriff's 283 laws with the punishments being death. This is a reference to Hammurabi's Code, an ancient system of laws developed by the leader Hammurabi that consisted of 282 laws, although, contrary to popular belief, was mainly civil code, and was no harsher than any such code up to and including 20th century.

Natural Selection Annex
Disclaimer: Technically, this is a DLC, but I felt it didn't belong in the DLC section, and here's why: The 4 Headhunter DLCs (in order: Captain Scarlett and Her Pirate's Booty, Mr. Torgue's Campaign of Carnage, Sir Hammerlock's Big Game Hunt, and Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep) are long and well-made DLCs that are so big, not only do they contain story missions, they also contain optional missions and challenges. Meanwhile, the smaller DLCs (e.g. Bloody Harvest and Mercenary Day) are so small, they only contain less than a handful of story missions, and one optional mission. But hey, they give a nice hat, right? No. No they do not. Each of these small DLCs is holiday-based, and in turn so are the hats. And they are ugly. Also it feels weird to wear a Halloween/Christmas/Valentine/whatever-the-hell-Crawmerax's-representative-holiday-is when it isn't even that holiday. But anyways, the NSA DLC completely breaks this trend by actually having one challenge. And here it is:

Sir Hammerlock's Big Game Hunt

About
Originally posted by Borderlands Wiki:
Danger! Excitement! Mustaches! It's time for another episode of Vault Hunter Adventures, featuring Sir Hammerlock! In this week's tale, our hard-boiled heroes travel to the savage continent of Aegrus! Their goal? To uncover the most exotic creatures Pandora has to offer, and give 'em the old one-two!

Story
(contains spoilers)
Just like the quote says, Sir Hammerlock has invited his colleague(s), the Vault Hunter(s), to join him on a good ol' fashioned hunt! Unfortunately, you come across a professor named Nakayama, who is obsessed with Handsome Jack and is "super-pumped we're arch enemies now." The man is so obsessed with Handsome Jack, that he is trying to bring him back to life (or at least make a clone of him) and you will begrudgingly stop him even though you and Hammerlock would really rather continue with the hunt.

Locations
  • Adorton Station
  • Candlerakk's Crag
  • H.S.S. Terminus
  • Hunter's Grotto
  • Scylla's Grove

I Promised to Kill You Last
Don't kill Woundspike until all of his minions are dead.

Strategy: Just kill all of the boroks until they stop spawning before killing Woundspike.

Power High

Description: As you walk out the SCCS west exit, turn to your left to find another, less attention-grabbing, set of the stairs. Go up these stairs to find this fuse box (depicted above). Turn it off and follow the wires to a little shack thing with a chest inside (depicted below). Simply walk inside this shack, and you'll have completed the challenge.

Tips and Tricks
Challenge Based Tips
  • For the Passive Aggressive challenge (Kill enemies while riding as a passenger (not a gunner) in a vehicle), you don't actually need a co-op partner to drive the vehicle. Simply go to the Dust when you're a few levels above the enemies there, park your Bandit Technical near some Spiderants, get out, get in the back, and shoot at the Spiderants. Just kill one Spiderant and you'll complete level 1 of the challenge, letting you get the Challenge Accepted achievement.
  • For the Blue Sparks Challenge (Kill enemies by power-sliding over them in a vehicle), you don't actually have to run them over while drifting. Just hold down the drift button while going straight.
  • The challenge Crouching Tiger, Hidden Assault Rifle (Kill enemies with assault rifles while crouched) will get you a neat skin palette if you complete level 5 of the challenge. You'll have to get into the habit of always crouching when using an assault rifle to kill things, though.
  • The challenge If You're Not First, You're Last (Complete the Hodunk Speedway within the time limit) in The Dust can be very difficult. You will need to drive in a Light Runner as the Bandit Technical has a tendency to spin out. You will also need the Afterburner relic, which is a mission reward for completing Positive Self Image for Ellie in The Dust.
Combat Tips
  • Always target Nomads first, especially in TVHM and even moreso in UVHM. They will be shouting orders to the rest of the bandits, and it can be really annoying when they give orders such as "Throw grenades" and "Charge."
  • Fire is less useful when playing TVHM, and almost completely useless in UVHM. In both cases, this is because of an increased amount of human enemies more frequently having shields, shields which are likely to have some kind of resistance to fire. Electric guns will be your best friends in these situations, since even though some shields have a resistance to Electric type damage, you'll still chew through the shield pretty fast, removing that resistance.
Character Tips
  • Identify what type of gun your character will be best with, and invest in that. For example, Maya is great with SMGs thanks to her Cat mod class, Salvador is great with pistols thanks to his gunlust tree, Axton is great with grenades and rocket launchers thanks to his Guerilla and Gunpowder trees, and Zer0 is great with snipers and melee thanks to his Sniping and Bloodshed trees. Gaige has a focus on Shock and Fire damage thanks to her Little Big Trouble tree, and Krieg is obviously good with melee.
  • Salvador is unstoppable with a Grog Nozzle or slag Rubi in one hand, and an Unkempt Harold in the other.
  • As Axton, be careful of Lab Rats. They will make short work of your turret with their... throwing... things... you get the point.
Miscellaneous Tips
  • You're better off not spending many Badass tokens into Maximum Health or Shield Capacity, since in UVHM, your shields will always be depleted in one hit, and your health will be depleted in two hits, regardless of what shield you have or what bonuses you have, with the only exception being Axton's Grit skill from his Survival tree.
    Loot Based Tips
    • When doing the side mission Doctors Orders at the Wildlife Exploitation Preserve, do not pick up the third echo. The four cardboard boxes where this echo is located are guaranteed to spawn loot midgets, which have a 15% chance of dropping legendary loot in all game modes. In UVHM, there is a 50% chance they will drop an E-tech relic, and roughly every tenth legendary dropped will be a pearlescent weapon. This mission is a great way to grind for random legendary loot because you are guaranteed to have loot midgets in this location but only so long as you don't pick up the third echo. I recommend going into the Natural Selection Annex from the Wildlife Exploitation Preserve and then coming right back out. This will make it so that every time you save and quit and come back, you respawn just outside of the Annex, cutting the journey from the Fast Travel point to the loot midgets in half. I also recommend that you do most of your grinding before looking in Bloodwing's cage during the Wildlife Preservation story mission, that way the skags and stalkers are still in their cages and you won't have to deal with them.
    • Loot Midgets also have a chance to spawn in Frostburn Canyon, Tundra Express, Opportunity, Sawtooth Cauldron, Arid Nexus - Boneyard, and Arid Nexus - Badlands. I personally have found the most loot midgets in Tundra Express, especially within the bandit camp with the buzzards, the one closest to the first fast travel point. Loot midgets only spawn from the following containers: regular ammunition chests, washing machines, storage boxes, toilets, Hyperion ammo chests, lockers, dumpsters, cardboard boxes, mail boxes, and gray & regular weapon chests.
    • Unkempt Harold is the greatest gun. Ever. The best prefix is Double Penetrating, the best barrel is Torgue, the best grip is Torgue, and the best attachment is a laser sight. You can even farm for it pretty early on, since the enemy that drops it, Savage Lee, spawns in the Marrowfield in Three Horns Divide after you make it inside sanctuary.
    DLC Based Tips
    • In Hammerlock's Hunt, when fighting Witch Doctors, keep in mind that you cannot shoot them while they are in tornado mode. If you are playing as Gaige, Deathtrap can still hurt them with his lazer beam.
    • In Hammerlock's Hunt, when fighting Witch Doctors, phaselocking Witch Doctors will only keep them phaselocked for about a second. This is still useful for interrupting their attacks, such as Chupacabra Witch Doctors and Lightning Witch Doctors using their beam attack on you for getting too close. Phaselocks are also still useful on Witch Doctors if you have unlocked the skill Ruin in the Cataclysm skill tree.
    • The Rough Rider, which has a chance to be dropped by The Bulwark from the mission Palling Around, is a shield which many consider quintessential to a UVHM Gunzerker build. This is due to the shield having 0 capacity, increased damage resistance to all damage types, and increased max health. Salvador has the Out of Bubblegum skill (up to +35% Fire Rate when shield is depleted), and thanks to the Rough Rider having no capacity, this skill will always be active while wearing this shield. This shield is also excellent for Krieg since none of his skills require having full shields and many of them provide increased benefits with a depleted shield.

you can actually stop the refinery's exaust port from working if you hit the part with the flame spewing out of a broken pipe with an explosive

not sure why, but I found Ardorton Station extremely creepy. especially with those floating plant spores, and the same music from the Bloodshot Stronghold playing in the background
