MODDED ALIEN ISOLATION - THE DEFINITIVE GUIDE

This guide will allow you to enable SweetFX 2.0 + ReShade Graphics, Dynamic Super Resolution, Full Level of Detail, 4K Shadow Map Resolution, Horizontal FOV, Non-Blurred Planar Reflections, Improved Anisotropic Filtering, Improved Xenomorph AI, Enhanced Weapons, No Intro Logos

Modded Settings

Modded settings will allow you to enable Full Level of Detail, 4K shadow map resolution, Horizontal FOV and non-blurred Planar Reflections. For comparisons, instructions and download follow the original AngelGraves13's guide:

Once you download and copy the modded .xml to its folder just make sure to change your Ultra settings to your new Super settings:

Improved Anisotropic Filtering

NVIDIA Control Panel
- Open the NVIDIA Control Panel found in in Windows' Control Panel.
- Proceed to the 3D Settings / Manage 3D Settings tab on the left side bar.
- Select Alien Isolation under 'Program to customize'. Alternatively, manually select the executable using the 'Add' button.
- Change the 'Anisotropic Filtering' option to 16x.
- Apply the changes.

AMD Catalyst Control Center
- Open the AMD Catalyst Control Panel found in Windows' Control Panel.
- Proceed to the Image Quality / Anisotropic Filtering tab.
- Uncheck the 'Use application settings' box.
- Set the option to 16x.
- Apply the changes.

SweetFX 2.0 + ReShade Graphics Mod

There are many SweetFX presets[sfx.thelazy.net] on the web, in this guide I'll show you only how to install the CKN's one, but you can use the same method for every SweetFX 2.0-Reshade preset.

Installation
- Run the provided "ReShade Setup" tool, press "Select Game" and browse to your
targeted Alien Isolation executable file (C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Alien Isolation\AI.exe)
- The setup will now try to detect which API the game uses for rendering, then it will copy all the ReShade + SweetFX files into the game folder
- Once it finishes, it provides you the option to start the game right away, but don't do it yet
- Rename your 'SweetFX_Settings_Alien- Isolation_Alien Isolation by CKN.txt' to 'SweetFX_settings.txt'
- Copy it into the SweetFX folder (in your Alien Isolation install folder) and replace the existing SweetFX_settings.txt

Dynamic Super Resolution

Dynamic Super Resolution renders a game at a higher, more detailed resolution and shrinks the result back down to the resolution of your monitor, giving you 4K-quality graphics on an HD screen. It's a very GPU-expensive solution, so don't do it if your videocard can't afford it!


- First open up the NVIDIA control panel and in the "Global Settings" tab enable "DSR - Factors"
- Choose one or more DSR settings of your choice (higher is better, and heavier)
- Next open up Alien Isolation and choose in your video settings the new rendering resolution

No Intro Logos

- Navigate to your Alien Isolation install folder (it will be something like C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamLibrary\SteamApps\common\Alien Isolation\)
- Keep navigating to \DATA\UI\MOVIES\
- Now delete or rename the following files:

• AMD_IDENT.USM
  
• CA_IDENT.USM
  
• FOX_IDENT.USM

Enhanced Weapons

Life Savers Mod enhances weapons and tools making them more useful in combat situations. Stunbaton can stun the alien, flashbang are more useful against the alien and other enemies, smoke grenade will have different and better effect on the Alien and humans in close range, pistol hurts and scares the Alien away with 4-5 rounds in mid-range, NPC's shotgun slows down the Alien more in close range. Also, the behavior mod makes the Alien more suspicious, unpredictable and more sensitive to the flashlight.

Life Savers Mod: Life Savers v1.0 (w ALIEN behavior Mods!)

Installation

- Copy all the files from folder "Tool" into C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Alien Isolation\DATA\WEAPON_INFO\AMMO (Don't forget to make copy of your original files)
- Copy "ALIEN.bml" and "DEFAULTS.bml" into C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Alien Isolation\DATA\CHR_INFO\ATTRIBUTES

(If you don't want to mod the Alien behavior because of reasons just don't touch the ALIEN.bml file)

Improved Xenomorph AI

It's called Unpredictable Alien Mod and it allows you to make the Alien more unpredictable by giving him more freedom to roam the ship instead of constantly stalking you. The mod affects all difficulty levels and modifies the alien's leash to the player and time spent in vents.

Installation

- Merge the DATA folder provided with the DATA folder in your base game installation directory /Steam/Steamapps/Common/Alien Isolation/Data/
- You should get a prompt to verify overwriting your existing .BML files inside those folders. Say 'yes to all' to complete

The mod provides backups, but in case you want to back up the original BMLs files, feel free to do it.

Forget DSR and reshade - look for alias isloation mod to get rid of anti aliasing completely

I don't see a big difference with the SweetFX on. The vanilla game already looks fantastic, so I don't see how you can improve on that.

That's a cool mod but that doesn't make it improved it just goes against the intended game design. They put the leash and tasking system for a reason. I mean it's cool that the mod makes the game harder but this isn't an improvement it's just an unimprovement designed to make the game unbalanced for a new play experience.

Doesn't increasing the resolution and then shrinking it to the monitor just anti-alias the image? I'm pretty sure that's just anti-aliasing.

@barry Just delete every mods file and restore the original ones. In case of any problem you can always restore the original state of the game by verifying the integrity of game files
