If you have trouble running this game, please let me know immediately by leaving a message below.

This is an alpha version of my game with a full chapter (chapter 2) available to play. It should take 2-3 hours to complete. I'm looking for play testers to find bugs, flaws and any issues. In return, I will play test your game in return. If you're interested, read on.

Who We Are

The persons involved in this game are: mangaka7 (me), Strafebreaker23 (Mark), and Syertse (Sasha). You may find us all on deviantART.com. We are a group of internet friends and we manage our deviantART group, How To Draw Manga (not affliated with the How To Draw Manga series of books by Manga University). We all like to draw anime/manga related stuff.

About the Project and Why?

This project started more than 3 years ago when our group were talking about dating-sim games. Mark drew a funny picture of what the game would be like. It was a joke but after talking about it, we decided to give it a shot. Mark suggested using Ren'Py, a visual novel engine. I tried out the program but I knew it wasn't going to work out because Mark lacked the time learn the engine and it was limited. Also, being a user of RPG Maker VX and XP, I knew it would be better to make this game using one of these programs. Several personal issues arose and we weren't able to work on the game for a whole year. In 2012, we reunited and started working on this game using the most recent version of RPG Maker, RPG Maker VX Ace. I have been working on and off since then.

As of now, I'm not sure if I should continue this game because I don't have enough feedback and I'm a bit busy. I'm working on this game (excluding some art) alone and that takes a tremendous amount of time. I promised Mark that I'll release a demo so here it is. Enjoy it and provide some feedback because if I do decide to continue, I'll have something to build on. The important thing right now is for the game to be enjoyable and bug free.

I have tons in store for this game including new characters, items, skills, side quests, story chapters and custom art. The whole game is estimated to be 15+ hours long with endgame/bonus content extending the time to 25+ hours.

Story

Once there was an amateur mangaka named Sayuri, whose goal was to become a professional mangaka. She loved her craft with all her heart and was very good at it. However, it all came to an end when Sayuri passed away in an accident that is no fault of her own. After her death, the god of the underworld resurrects her to aid in her revenge. With newfound powers at her command, Sayuri decides to have a little fun instead of pursuing revenge. She decides to visit her old school where Momo is currently attending. What happens next is a rollercoaster of craziness and fun!

Note: For this demo, the game starts in Chapter 2. Chapter 1 is still under development.

Controls

This game uses the default RPG Maker VX Ace controls. If you must take a look at the controls, go here: Read Me (controls and gameplay tips)[momosadventuregame.wordpress.com]

Feedback

If you play test this game, I can play test your game in return, but only up to the amount of time you spent on my game, which is only 5 hours at most. I simply do not have time to test a 10+ hour game right now unless you're helping me a lot.

Please leave constructive criticism and be specific when addressing issues. Do not simply tell me that this game is good or bad.

Tips

A general guide to the game can be found here:

I have thought of that, but there isn't enough at the moment for this game to be worthy of being commercial. I will continue development once RPG Maker MV is released and I'll see where it goes from there.

Why don't you go commercial with it?

@Danglepeen

Please check the Credits section of my website. Every script I used is listed there.

Thank you.

Hey, I'd like to know where you got the script for your battles. I need to know for the project I am working on. And your Demo has been pretty good c: :steamhappy:

@Feldi

Hey there,

If you were talking about the battle screenshots, yeah they don't really fit. Actually, the screenshots are quite old and I haven't had the time to upload new ones. The monster sizes and backgrounds have been adjusted awhile ago. I'll check Deviantart and other communities for help.

Thanks!

well... that story just yells "selfinsert" and I'm actually not a big Fan of that.
Also the sets don't really seem to fit the setting and I can tell that from the Screenshots.
if you (the Author of the Game) need some help, then take a look at RPG-Maker Groups on Deviantart or the several forum Communitys that are willing to help.
The Story has potential, but there is a lot that has to be learned about Game Design.

@Norinia

I created chapter 2 first because I wanted feedback on the battle mechanics, balance and the general features of the game. Chapter 1 wasn't created first for several reasons. First, it required custom tilesets (modern japanese school), which I do not have at the time. Second, it didn't have any of the stuff in chapter 2 because it's mostly story. Lastly, the story for chapter 1 wasn't finalized and I wanted to created stuff for Syertse (character designer for chapter 2) to see. There are other small reasons that prevented me from starting chapter 1, but I said enough.

It was probably a bad move to create chapter 2 first because the first chapter is the most important. Well, at least I made some progress, got some feedback and learned from my mistakes.

I'm currently busy with my art portfolio so I'm putting this game on hold indefinitely. With RPG Maker MV possibly coming out next year, I might just wait for that.

Thank you for your comment!

chapter 2 is done, but chapter 1 is still in dev. how does that work really? eh I'm not into demoing games like this but it does look really good when you have chapter 1 out I might try it, because at least then I know your serious about completing the game I just don't want to be waiting for another chapter that might never come. good luck on the project though.
