Description
The Cypriot Empire

This mod adds Cyprus, led by Peter I!

Cyprus is an island in the east mediterranean situated strategically between Anatolia and the Levant. It's long history is one of countless invasions as land Empires sought to gain it's riches. During the middle ages it was a major crusader state, deeply intertwined with the Kingdom of Jerusalem, before it was conquered and colonised by the Ottoman Empire. Nowadays Cyprus is a popular tourist destination, despite being technically divided into two countries populated by Greek and Turkish cypriots.

Mod details

Leader-Peter I

Trait-"Lusignan Crusaders"

"During the Medieval and Renaissance eras, all Melee units gain the coastal raiders promotion. 15% Gold in conquered Coastal cities."

Unique unit-"Military Order"

"Replaces the Longswordsman, requires Iron and can build forts. Gains the amphibious promotion and doesn't obsolete until metallurgy. Has unique names."

unique building-"Buyuk Han"

"Caravansary replacement. Loses land trade bonuses, but gives the city it is built in 50% naval trade route range, and +4 gold for naval trade routes. Incoming trade routes yield an extra 2 gold for the city owner and 1 gold for the trade route owner"

Strategy

Cyprus is a true Crusader civilisation! The Coastal Raiders promotion, along with the amphibious promotion make it so that Military Orders may act like beefy naval units, able to raid coastal cities and ambush armies without fear of many repurcussions! The fact that they obsolete a little later means you can keep building them well into the renaissance!. If a peaceful game is more your style, then the Buyuk Han vastly increases the profitability of Naval trade routes, as well as the range, really giving Cyprus an edge when it comes to international trade.

Supports-Core JFD's cultural diversity, YNAEMP, RED units, CIV IV leader traits, unique cultural influence, piety and prestige, JFD's exploraton continued, Unique Admiral/general names

Please read the below!

-It is only melee units that gain the promotion, not gun units.

-Units that gained the coastal raiders promotion will not lose it post-renaissance.

-Only built Military Orders gain unique names, i.e. If you upgrade a swordsman to a longswordsman, it will just be called "Military Order".

Special thanks!

@ryanjames Thanks a lot for getting back to me. I found Cyprus in the listing after I restarted the game. I am not sure if that did something.

The only thing I can say is an issue is that the Cyprus settler starts in the water (About two tiles away from the Island of Cyprus) in YNAEMP.

I ended up playing as Cyprus in a normal game and had a lot of fun. Thanks for the mod! Let me know if you ever have time to fix the location in YNAEMP!

@Kevin

I've not really been involved with modding for sometime so the mod support is probably greatly out of date, might have time to look into it so and maybe update the support

This civ does not turn up in the list of civs when trying to load a custom game with YNAEMP Giant Earth. Any suggestions?

@Поиск игры

They're not Templars or Hospitalliers, but a generic unit that represents the different military orders that have existed on Cyprus.
Remarox May 8, 2016 @ 12:06pm
ruanjames,can you replace templars to hospitaliers?

You Should make it so the UA lasts the entire game and grants 10% production as well as the 15% gold

I would love to give this a full shot, but I usually play YnaEMP, and the units start off in the water (and the settler can't even get to Cyprus).
