PANG STUN THE ENEMY!

DK IS UNIRONICALLY THE BEST SUPPORT. Hear me out, at the start of the game with no items whatsoever, he already has:

+ FREE RING OF HEALTH (4.9 hp regen, increases and is multiplied in dragon form)
+ FREE CHAINMAIL (4 armor that increases and multiplies the more levels you have)
+ GOOD MOVEMENT SPEED (++ in dragon form)
+ GOOD DENY/LAST HIT ANIMATION
+ CHEAP MANA COST NUKES/STUNS
+ DAMAGE REDUCTION NUKE (AOE ENFEEBLE BUT BETTER)
+ GREAT RELIABLE STUN
+ FREE AETHER LENS (when in dragon form)
+ FREE ORB OF FROST/SKADI/SUPER URN (frost dragon facet /wyrms wrath)

High armor and health regen makes him the envy of supports that need to buy regen and other sustain items in lane. The only thing he lacks is mobility and mana regen, which can easily be solved by two pretty cheap items (soul ring + brown boots + blink). Everything else you buy on him is completely versatile in addressing the enemy team's tools.

In early game, your goal is to harass and ruin enemy core's farm with your Q, secure kills with W, and be fully capable of roaming and ganking from lvl 4 onwards.

In mid game, you can essentially farm like a core with Q until you get a decently timed blink dagger so that you can PANG! with your W to gank with a plus one.

Approaching late game, you can be the team's dedicated utility/aura holder or transition into a half core (like enchantress does) with a few items

Besides being a blindside pick against the enemy who think you'll be a core, support DK is a great pair to the ff heroes. He's a great pair for supporty-cores that need a lot of handholding in early game and some traditional offlaners:

- Windrunner
- Muerta
- Viper
- Dawnbreaker
- Slardar

Now is support DK a great idea? Probably not the best! But does it work? Eh, more than occasionally! Did people think TB support was a troll? Well woop a few weeks later it became standard! Just remember to keep trying new things and you'll be surprised to know what works, this is why this game's always evolving even almost twenty years later.
