Introduction
Welcome to my achievement guide for Eador: Masters of the Broken World!

Eador is a lengthy and fairly difficult turn-based strategy game. It can take quite a while to earn all the achievements, but it's not impossible to do. A few things to mention before we get started:
  • There are no multiplayer achievements
  • There is a single missable achievement (Genocide)
  • There is a single slightly bugged achievement (The Firstborn King)
  • Achievements can only be earned after completing the tutorial shard
  • Achievements can be earned on any difficulty
Since the campaign consists of randomized maps (called "shards"), most achievements can be attempted pretty much at any point. This also means that there is no strict order that you need to follow in order to earn all the achievements. Note that certain achievements are story-related and unmissable.

I have also written another Steam guide - found HERE - for beginners who simply need help with the game itself. Feel free to check it out if you're having trouble.

The achievements also have separate in-game pop-ups and you can view your progress from the menu under "Achievements".

Anyway, let's begin.
Easy Achievements
These should be fairly simple to earn. In fact, it should be possible to acquire most - if not all of these - on the first shard with very little effort. Don't worry if you miss any, as you can always earn them later.

Thus Began the Empire
Conquer your first province.

Quickly earned on the first shard. Each shard is made up of neutral provinces that you must conquer to expand your empire and reach the enemy stronghold.

The Glorious Opening
Win your first tactical battle.

Quickly earned on the first shard. Whenever you attack the defenders of any province or location, you will be taken to the tactical battle screen where you must defeat the enemy in combat.

A Career in the Making
Earn your first hero level.

Quickly earned on the first shard. Heroes level up mainly by gathering experience in combat. You will likely need to win only one or two battles before your hero levels up for the first time.

The Royal Guard
Receive a medal with any unit.

Units can earn medals in combat by meeting certain requirements during the battle. You can see the specifics in the "Medals" section of my other guide. Note that the Mercenary Badge medal doesn’t count for the purposes of this achievement.

Reanimation
Resurrect a slain hero.

If a hero is killed in battle, you can either let him remain dead and disband his army or resurrect him for a cost. If you don’t have enough resources to resurrect a hero instantly, you can have the hero’s body transported to your stronghold, where you may resurrect him later.

Pathways to Mastery
Reach the 10th hero level.

Once a hero reaches level 10, they can pick a specialization. For example, a Wizard can become a Battlemage. See the "Leveling" section in my other guide for more information. Reaching the 10th hero level should be possible on most shards.

From Hell with a Bang
Survive with a hero the annihilation of his army.

You need to win a tactical battle with only the hero surviving and all your other units dying. If you want, you can simply take a powerful hero with a single expendable unit into battle and let the unit get killed for the achievement.

Persistence and Diligence
Explore a province to 100%.

Heroes can explore provinces to uncover new locations. Each province starts out partially explored and any province can be explored to 100%. See the "Exploration" section in my other guide for more information.

The Besieging Practices
Begin your first siege.

In order to conquer an enemy stronghold, you must first lay siege to it. You can only besiege strongholds that actually have units in the garrison. See the "Siege" section in my other guide for more information.

Brave New World
Capture your first shard.

Self-explanatory. Earned as soon as you conquer the first shard after the tutorial.
Story-Related Achievements
These are unmissable and pop up as soon as you return to the Astral realm after conquering a shard.

The Obnoxious Companion
Talk to Zarr in the Astral.

You will encounter Zarr the gremlin after completing the tutorial shard and finding yourself in the Astral realm for the first time. He will become your advisor and a limitless source of sarcastic comments. This should be the first achievement you earn in the game.

The Wise Old Man
Encounter Oinor.

The first Master you encounter in the Astral realm. He introduces himself after you’ve conquered the second shard (including the tutorial).

Ambitions Rule the World
Encounter Beleth.

The second Master you encounter in the Astral realm. He introduces himself after you’ve conquered the fourth shard.

Violence CAN Be a Solution
Encounter Doh-Gor.

The third Master you encounter in the Astral realm. He introduces himself after you’ve conquered the seventh shard.

Thumbelina
Encounter Vianta.

The fourth Master you encounter in the Astral realm. She introduces herself after you’ve defended your shard against Doh-Gor.

Achievement...
Encounter Oumm.

The fifth Master you encounter in the Astral realm. He introduces himself after you’ve conquered the tenth shard.

How Do You Know She Is a Witch?
Encounter Stenriya.

The sixth Master you encounter in the Astral realm. She introduces herself after you’ve conquered the 12th shard.

Dead and Lovin' It
Encounter L'Anshar.

The seventh Master you encounter in the Astral realm. He introduces himself after you’ve conquered the 14th shard.

The Firstborn King
Encounter Dariol.

The eighth Master you encounter in the Astral realm. He introduces himself after you’ve conquered the 16th shard.

Note: This achievement is slightly bugged. It’s possible to ruin your diplomatic relationship with Dariol even BEFORE you meet him if you destroy all the mortals in your world via the necromantic ritual offered by L’Anshar. Doing so causes Dariol to introduce himself with a different (hostile) dialogue instead of the standard greeting. This does not trigger the achievement (neither in-game nor on Steam). If you want the achievement, don’t follow through with L’Anshar’s ritual and you should get it just like any other similar achievement.

Hostile greeting (no achievement)

Friendly greeting

Engineering Excellence
Encounter Ul-Dagan.

The ninth Master you encounter in the Astral realm. He introduces himself after you’ve conquered the 18th shard.

Empire of the Sun
Encounter Herskil.

The tenth Master you encounter in the Astral realm. He introduces himself after you’ve conquered the 19th shard.

The Lone Survivor
Encounter Erdu.

The eleventh Master you encounter in the Astral realm. He introduces himself after you’ve conquered the 20th shard.

The Dragon Never Sleeps
Encounter Dorikos.

The twelfth Master you encounter in the Astral realm. He introduces himself after you’ve conquered the 21st shard.

The Devil You Know
Encounter Adrageron.

The thirteenth Master you encounter in the Astral realm. He introduces himself after you’ve conquered the 22nd shard.

Father of All Lightnings
Encounter Ranadil.

The fourteenth Master you encounter in the Astral realm. He introduces himself after you’ve conquered the 23rd shard.

I Have No Name and I Must Speak
Encounter the Nameless.

The fifteenth Master you encounter in the Astral realm. He introduces himself after you’ve conquered the 24th shard.

The Well of Knowledge
Encounter Magnus.

The sixteenth – and last – Master you encounter in the Astral realm. He introduces himself after you’ve conquered the 25th shard.
Reward-Related Achievements
You can earn certain rewards after conquering a shard if you manage to meet their requirements. Each of these rewards increases your score by quite a bit and also has an associated achievement. They can be earned on any shard and are pretty self-explanatory. In many cases, it can help if you simply contain the last remaining enemy stronghold with provincial guards, so you'd have ample time to meet the requirements of these rewards/achievements.

Strategist
Conquer a shard without losing any battles involving the heroes.

Save-scumming can be useful here, as you can always load an autosave before an unsuccessful fight if needed.

Architect
Conquer a shard after constructing all available buildings in the stronghold.

Note that "all available buildings" doesn’t mean "every possible building in the game". It's easier to do this earlier in the campaign when you still have only a few buildings unlocked and therefore need to build fewer things for the achievement.

Cartographer
Conquer a shard after unveiling the entire map.

You simply need to uncover each province on the shard by removing the fog-of-war.

Explorer
Conquer a shard after exploring over 1000% of uncharted land across the provinces.

Consider hiring additional heroes to explore provinces faster. Note that the required percentage only counts the land you actually manage to explore, not the land that's already explored in the provinces.

Collector
Conquer a shard after gathering at least one set of 4 or more items.

There are several armor sets in the game, but most of them are either incredibly rare or contain less than four items. Set items can be found as random loot in dungeons or bough from provincial stores. The set you’re most likely to gather would be either the Vestments of Illusion or Veteran’s Armor. Other feasible options include the Armor of Valor and Hero’s Armor sets. Each of these sets has 5 items, but you don’t need to assemble the full set – any four items will do.

Tactician
Conquer a shard without losing any units serving in the heroes' armies.

Fairly tough to do on harder difficulties, so lots of save-scumming will likely be required. Better to attempt this on earlier (smaller) shards. Note that dismissing units doesn’t count as "losing" units.

Dragon Hunter
Conquer a shard after looting 10 locations with dragon guards.

Dragons appear in locations named Dragon Lairs that can randomly be found in provinces. Just clear out ten Lairs on any shard before defeating the other Masters there. You will likely have to attempt this on a larger shard, as it’s possible that smaller shards might not actually have that many Dragon Lairs. You will also require quite a strong hero (Warrior or Scout).

Destroyer
Conquer a shard after plundering over 1000 gold from the provinces.

Plundering should generally be avoided because of its negative effect on the mood of the locals and only used when you urgently need extra gold (usually in the early stages of the game). However, once you've nearly conquered a shard, plundering a handful of provinces for the required amount of gold should take little effort.

Arena Champion
Conquer a shard after winning 10 fights on the Arena.

For this achievement, you need to win nine champion league fights in the Arena and then beat the arena champion Orca. This will likely be one of the harder achievements in the game.

The Arena is a unique building where your hero can fight another hero for gold. It can be built in the stronghold (once unlocked) or found as a random location in a province. There are three leagues - novice, veteran and champion. The enemy hero level depends on the league. Heroes in novice league are several levels below your hero, veteran heroes are the same level, and champion league heroes are several levels higher than your hero. The gold reward also scales accordingly. The enemy hero has an army of random units based on your hero's unit slots. For example, if your hero has a single tier 4 slot, two tier 3 slots, three tier 2 slots and five tier 1 slots, expect to see that many units of those respective tiers in the enemy army - regardless of the league and regardless of whether or not you actually have any units in those slots yourself.

Note: more specifically, the enemies scale to the most powerful hero in the province. If you have a high-level hero in the province, you will also encounter a high-level hero in the Arena, even if you enter the Arena with another hero.

Note: you only need to win a total of nine champion league fights to be able to face Orca. You may use multiple heroes (and even multiple Arenas) to reach the required number of wins.

Strategy: Once you have access to an Arena, finish conquering the shard as normal, but contain the final enemy stronghold with strong provincial guards instead of capturing it. Then hire a new hero and give him all your veteran troops and powerful items to steamroll the first nine fights in the Arena. Since your hero will be low-level, the enemies are also weak are will be easily outmatched by your overpowered units and equipment. The tenth opponent will always be Orca (only referred thus in the dialogue, actual hero name is random), a level 30 Warwizard with no other units, but with insane stats and spells. These are some attributes that you can expect from Orca:

Total spell immunity, 10+ initiative, 20+ defense, 20+ ranged defense, 20+ resistance, 100+ health (on Expert difficulty), 25+ damage, high summoning power, spellpower and resistance negation (!), with spells including Armageddon, Incineration, Word of Ice, Drain Life, Summon Golem, as well as Fireballs, Lightning Bolts and multiple Magic Arrows and Raise Zombies.

The best way to beat Orca is to have a strong hero (preferably a Warrior) with a ton of hit points and regeneration to simply endure the magic damage until Orca runs out of spells, then kill him one-on-one. Your army will be next to useless because most of them will likely die to Armageddon and are unable to penetrate the high defense of the enemy hero even if they survive the onslaught of spells.
Alliance Achievements
These can be earned by forming an alliance with one of the non-human races in the game. Read the "Alliances" section in my other guide for an in-depth explanation of the specific requirements.

In Cold Blood
Forge an alliance with the lizardmen.

The alliance with Lizardmen can be formed by completing a quest which requires you to kill six Giant Slugs.

Short and to the Point
Forge an alliance with the halflings.

The alliance with Halflings can be formed by completing a quest which requires you to kill fifteen Brigands.

The Elf-friend
Forge an alliance with the elves.

The alliance with Elves can be formed by completing a quest which requires you to find a group of captured elf maidens.

The Best of Both Worlds
Forge an alliance with the centaurs.

The alliance with Centaurs can be formed by completing a quest which requires you to kill five Ogres.

Drinking Buddies
Forge an alliance with the dwarves.

The alliance with Dwarves can be formed by completing a quest which requires you to find a certain sacred poleaxe.

March of the Horde
Forge an alliance with the orcs.

The alliance with Orcs can be formed by completing a quest which requires you to plunder a number of provinces.

Like a Goblin
Forge an alliance with the goblins.

The alliance with Goblins can be formed by completing a quest which requires you to kill three Elves.
Random Achievements
These achievements don't really have a distinct common feature. Like the other achievements, they can be earned on virtually any shard.

Militant Disposition
Capture over 50% of provinces on a shard.

Pretty self-explanatory. Obviously easier to achieve on smaller shards that have less provinces.

Experience Addiction
Reach the 20th hero level.

Once a hero reaches level 20, they can further improve their specialization. For example, a Battlemage will become a Warwizard. Reaching the 20th hero level isn't common on most shards, as you will likely win before that happens. Nevertheless, you can always grind the missing levels after containing the enemy in their stronghold.

Did They Have the Jurassic There?
Slay a dragon.

Dragons are the most powerful units in the game. They take virtually no damage from low-tier units, are immune to spells and can one-shot most units and even heroes. The only way to reliably kill a dragon is to use a high-level Warrior or Scout with decent equipment. Dragons may be found in locations named Dragon Lairs, which can appear randomly in any province.

The Best Offense
Fight off an attack by another Master against your shard.

You will first be attacked by Doh-Gor the turn after you encounter him. Just fight off Doh-Gor for the achievement. Your home shard can later again be attacked by other Masters who have a highly negative attitude towards you.

Everybody Be Cool, This Is a Robbery!
Destroy the guards of a store in province.

Provincial stores are locations that can randomly appear in any province. These stores (Weapon Store, Tanner, Plate Armory, etc.) offer random – and often rare – items for sale, can occasionally give quests and are heavily guarded. The achievement is awarded after looting any of these stores by defeating the guards.

Lord of Bones
Summon over 50 skeletons or zombies in a battle for the shard.

The description of this achievement is actually incomplete. You need to accept 50 skeletons or zombies into your army with the Necromancy skill, not just cast the Raise Skeleton/Zombie spell 50 times. You can simply dismiss the undead right after you raise them to free up more army slots. Basically, you just need to perform the post-battle necromancy ritual 50 times on a single shard for the achievement to trigger (you can raise any mix of skeletons and zombies).

Can't Stop Building
Construct all possible buildings in the stronghold.

Note that "all possible buildings" doesn’t mean "every possible building in the game", only the ones that are currently available. Easier to do early in the campaign, when you still have only a few buildings unlocked and therefore need to build fewer structures.

Blitzkrieg
Capture a shard in less than 45 turns.

Easy enough on smaller shards with only one or two enemy Masters. It’s even possible to rush and conquer a tiny-sized shard in as few as 20 turns on lower difficulties.

Viva la Revolucion!
Lose a battle for the shard due to an uprising in your capital province.

Uprisings will happen when the mood of a province has been negative for too long. If enough unrest has accumulated, the locals will revolt and attempt to overthrow your rule in the province. If the uprising happens in your capital province and you don’t have a strong enough hero/garrison/guard to repel it, you will instantly lose the battle for the shard. The easiest and quickest way to drive down the mood in a province is to plunder it repeatedly, because each plundering reduces the current mood by one.

Academy of Witchcraft and Wizardry
Construct magic school of fourth tier.

There are six magic schools in the game and each can have up to four tiers. You only have first tier schools available at the start, as more advanced tiers must first be unlocked by conquering shards. You should be able to construct fourth tier schools sometime around the 20th shard.

No Cure for Entropy
Lose the campaign to Chaos invasion.

The campaign is timed to about 90 turns in the Astral. If you do not manage to reach one of the other endings in that time, the Chaos invasion begins and you fail the campaign. Your advisor Zarr will approach you about 10 turns before the end of the campaign and warn you about this eventuality. Simply skip enough turns in the Astral to trigger this ending.

Genocide
Finish the game with «Destroy all life» ending.

This achievement requires you to earn one of the multiple different endings of the game. The first requirement for this achievement is killing all the mortals on your shard via a necromantic ritual. This option is presented when you meet L’Anshar (one of the other Astral masters). When you first encounter him, he offers you the possibility to end all life on your shard by paying 200 Astral energy. This results in a reduced overall income of Astral energy (-15-20%), a large karma penalty (-50) and a heavy hit to your relations with several other Astral masters (namely Oinor, Vianta, Dariol, Herskil and Erdu). You should also see the "Mortals Destroyed" entry on your statistics screen in the Astral view if you choose to go through with the ritual.

If you don’t immediately accept L’Anshar’s offer upon meeting him, you have a few more chances to do so later on. When you pick the dialogue option to "think it over" after he offers to perform the ritual for 200 energy, you can later agree to the ritual by talking to him in the Astral realm. If you delay for too long (or outright refuse to do the ritual the first time), he will present you with an ultimatum after a few turns – either perform the ritual or he will attack your home shard. If you still refuse and instead fight off his attack, there is one last chance to perform the ritual during the quest for the Keys of Truth. Retrieving one of the Keys requires you to access the world of the dead and L’Anshar is willing to reveal how to get there for the low cost of one genocidal ritual.

The second requirement of this achievement is that L’Anshar must not be killed. Pretty obvious, but worth mentioning just in case.

The final requirement is simply... conquering shards. Once your home shard has grown big enough, L’Anshar will approach you in the Astral realm and offer to perform the final ritual to end all life across all shards and trigger the ending.

In my case, I had conquered 26 shards when L’Anshar approached me for the second time. Karma and Astral energy don’t seem to matter at all for this achievement. I had constantly maintained a positive karma throughout the campaign (even after the first ritual). I also reloaded a save in the Astral right before conquering that final shard and skipped multiple turns to accumulate over 4000 energy, but that didn’t trigger the ending, so the only real factor seems to be the combined sizes of your shard and L’Anshar’s.
Conclusion
That's all, folks. It should take you anywhere between 100-200 hours to earn all the achievements, depending on your skill and the chosen difficulty. I hope this guide has been helpful.

Have fun playing!

For eador remembers you have to click a banner that says 2 years on the start menu. If you cant see it:

steam library > right click on Eador > properties > betas >eadorbeta. Steam will install a small patch and you will see the banner.

Hi, Thanks for the Genocide ending Tips! i will try and make sure i get it. Also.. do you know the requirment for all the other 11 endings?
Mzehn Jan 10, 2015 @ 1:43pm
Just to be clear on this, unexplorable water tiles really did cause the problem. Achievement pop-up properly now and I received the corresponding award.
Mzehn Jan 8, 2015 @ 5:53am
Yes, I think the water tiles made the problem, as I didnt get that special reward (got it for "Explorer" though). I will reload that save and make sure that really is why it didt pop out. If all fails, I will get it sooner or later, probably on a tiny forest shard I went to now.Thaks for quick reply guys :bigheart:
