Plug Your Radio In

Description
Plug your Radio in!

Whenever you open up the radio interface if power is available you'll plug in the radio and run it off mains power. If power is not available battery power will be used.

There is no need to convert the radio to a different type of item to use mains power; this is all done automatically by editing the radio when you open the radio interface.

FAQ:

Can this mod be added to a game mid-save?

Yes, but any radios that are currently on will need to be turned off and back on again.

Can this mod be removed mid-save?

Yes, but any radios that are currently plugged in will remain plugged in.

Which radios can be plugged in?

Any radio that is placed as a world item. This included placed walkie-talkies, which are running off a power adaptor while they are placie-talkies. Vehicle radios and televisions are not affected. If you pick up a radio, equip it and use the radio interface it will be switched to battery mode.

Where can I plug in my radio?

Before power shuts off: any indoor tile, or any outddoor tile within range of an active generator

After power shuts off: any tile within range of a generator

Why are all the existing radios running off battery power when I find them?

Because the previous owner used the power cable to tie their generator manual to their sledgehammer before throwing them in the river.

How do I get the battery out of a plugged in radio?

You can't. Move the radio to a different location where it uses battery power (such as picking it up and equpping it) and then remove the battery.

@Nepenthe On further testing, it appears to work just fine!

@Wrath of the North I've not tested that, there's just the earlier comments about how it might work... give it a go and post results.

@Nepenthe I recall at one point that this wasn't compatible with TV/Radio Reinvented - is that still the case?

I could've sworn it was disclaimed in the description; obviously, I'm not seeing it.

B42 only. For anyone still on B41 you can try to backport this yourself, or just wait until B42 reaches a state you're willing to switch too.

Thanks, that may be the extra bit if info I need to replicate this; in the meantime keep a better in your radio even when plugged in.

I think I figured it out, it persists if I pick it up and place it again, it also happens with antoher radio as well, but only if I removed the battery if i keep the battery inside it works, thats probably why the pre installed ones where working I never picked them up to remove the battery.

@ileb I had that happen once then couldn't reproduce it. Do you have the same issue if you place another radio, and does the issue persists if you pick up the radio/place it back down?

Seems to freeze the ui for radios placed by hand. I can't change volume or tune into another frequency on radios placed by myself, for radios that are preplaced by the game the ui works as expected.

They add a boombox and a vinyl player that would be fitting.
