Thermae Antoninianae · World Wonder

Thermae Antoninianae, also known as Baths of Caracalla, were massive baths in Rome built during the reign of Septimius Severus and Caracalla. Open to the public for free, the massive baths received water from the sophiscated Aqua Antoniniana and heat from an underground hypocaust. Much of the baths were destroyed in the earthquake of 847, and artworks and statues have been excavated from the site, a legacy of the glory in the past.
