Viperel's Vehicle Spare Parts B42

Description
The one-stop solution for all your automotive repair needs. Includes realistic recipes for crafting & fixing vehicle parts.

Are you tired of always breaking your vehicle components and not finding a replacement, while fixing will never make them like new again? Viperel has you covered!

  • Craftable items include Hoods, Trunk Lids, Gas Tanks, Car Seats, Mufflers and Windows.

  • You can RECONDITION Tires, Batteries, Suspensions & Brakes! They are not craftable from scratch but you can recondition them indefinitely based on your skills level (higher skill = better repair job).
  • Ability to quickly patch all Tires with basic materials in an emergency. [The fixed tires will be the "Old Tire" variant, with a quality depending on your mechanical/maintenance skill. WILL require a Tire Pump to inflate after mounting]
  • All recipes can be performed using items from the floor or nearby containers, making the repair process more convenient.

To determine the type of item variant (old, regular, performance), your Mechanical skill level is important. Specifically, if your level is between 3 and 5, you can craft the old variant, if it's between 6 and 8, you can craft the regular variant, and if it's 9 or 10, you can craft the performance variant. This approach was implemented to ensure that advanced parts are only available to those with the required skill level, while still allowing any item to be crafted.

⚠️Will not interfere with other mods and should be MP compatible. Can be added to an existing save safely!
⚠️Keep in mind that B42 is still WIP and so is this mod, things might break with updates.

Recommended mods i enjoy:
  • KI5 Vehicles

    Q: I can't craft something!
A: In B42 most recipes are craftable from within the recipes window (press B). Make sure you have the required materials, skills and a work surface.

    Q:Why can't i craft the best variant of X?
A: For balancing and realism, there would be little reason to scavenge or repair parts if you can make everything.

dose this work with K15 vehicles mods?

The reconditioning of heavy-duty tires is definitely broken. I expected getting heavy-duty tire in return and I ended up getting fucking Sport type tires.

@Dark I have the same problem. The solution is to delete the last paragraph of the recipe for repairing heavy duty tires in “VPR_MakingVehicleParts.txt”.

Connecting parts crafting with nnew blacksmithing sounds awesome. Will wait for it and hope you won't change your mind.

I think the recipe for reconditioning heavy-duty tires is broken. All the ingredients are doubled and none of the tires I have satisfy the duplicate tire ingredient that it wants. The standard reconditioning recipe is fine.

the recondition tire recipes have been broken by 42.1

Comment from another mod:
"Any mod that added recipes might be broken.

For the broken recipe mods issue, the fix for that is seemingly pretty simple. Just need to change all instances of the following in the scripts:

AutoLearn to AutoLearnAny
itemcount to flags[ItemCount]"

@Jianghao It's still WIP, just like B42, was thinking to link the parts to the new blacksmith system.

Very useful mods, but it feels like the restoration materials are too simple and need to be balanced!

For repairs ill have a look at KI5's damnlibrary if it's feasible to hook into it. At the moment the VRO mod in B42 is a little too clutted and unrealistic for my taste.
