[B42] Homemade Things

Beschreibung
Homemade Things - created by nheve, with additional help from PepperCat.
All of my 'Homemade' mods put together into one mod for Build 42.
This mod is only for B42 - if you are still playing B41, please use my previous mods.

Purpose:
The main purpose of this mod is to provide alternatives for important, necessary tools, to be craftable on low levels. Its not focused on creating a hyper realistic experience, but i tried to balance all homemade items and make them not too overpowered.
This mod should be also very useful for more rural and even only wilderness gameplay scenarios.

Players, who are looking for a more challenging experience, designed more in line with a current Build 42 direction, can use now (thanks to PepperCat) additional version of recipes, by enabling the Base Mod and additional submod 'Homemade Things (Hard Recipes)'.

How to use (changed on 15.04.25):
Please activate the main mod called Homemade Things (Base Mod).
Then activate only one of the additional submods - either choose Homemade Things (Easy Recipes) or Homemade Things (Hard Recipes).
If you wish to continue playing without new changes - activate Base Mod, and Easy Recipes.

Recipes:
Homemade Things adds recipes for:
Homemade Hacksaw, Homemade Garden Saw, Homemade Pickaxe, Homemade Trowel, Homemade Bleach + Homemade Lemon Bleach (Make 1L or 5L), Train Maintenance, Bash Flint Nodule with Stone, Make Homemade Wooden Mallet, Brainstorm Basic Maintenance Methods, Brainstorm Advanced Maintenance Methods, Carve Homemade Bucket from Log, Make Homemade Scissors, Make Homemade Needle, Make Homemade Knitting Needles, Make Homemade Sledgehammer, Make Homemade Crude Chisel, Make Improvised Sack from Sheet, Make Improvised Sack from Bags, Make Frame for Homemade Sieve, Make Mesh for Homemade Sieve, Assemble Homemade Sieve, Extract Clay from Dirt, Extract Sand from Full Dirtbag, Make Homemade Bucket Of Clay Cement, Make Homemade Fleshing Tool, Make Homemade Shovel

Todo List: (updated on 12.02.25)
My work on the mod is currently paused. I dont think ill be adding any new features, im sorry - i dont enjoy working on the mod as much as before. But ill try to provide necessary compatibility fixes for the future zomboid updates, when needed.

If you are a modder, and would like to help:
I wanted to include in the mod compatibility with sandbox options, to let the player choose which recipes to use, but i wasnt able to find any good solution for implementing this.

If you have experience in modding project zomboid, and have an idea how to implement this feature, please contact me on discord (info in the Contact & Support section above). Thank you!

Hello! I'm back in the game after a while, and this mod is still updated. It's a great mod, highly recommended, and fun for playing those early games with slow progression. I definitely recommend it. Thanks again.:spiffo:

I have a request, add the ability to "practice blacksmithing". Because without books on blacksmithing - my character will get the first level in about a game YEAR

Hello again, I would like to suggest such a thing that when sifting soil into clay or sand, there was a chance to get a stone, at least 10%

Mod has been updated - i was able to add the requested translation entries. Files are located in the Homemade Things base mod folder.
If anyone would like to share translations for other languages - feel free to contact me, most preferably on discord. Thanks!

@stalksetcup
Yes, i agree - vanilla game is still very unfriendly for the wilderness gameplay unfortunately

Well, honestly, I just intentionally ignore imbalanced crafts, but for example, without your scissors, survival in the forest... well, it will be easier to delete the game:)

@JimmyTGN
Thanks, i will try to add the translation entries - maybe in a couple of days, if ill be feeling well enough.

@stalksetcup
No, not really. Even less experience in few cases - its for the players who wanted to use the homemade tools, but felt like acquiring them was too easy in the original easy version. Hard recipes are more similar to the vanilla b42 crafting vision, with added skill requirements. I personally dont like the b42 requirements, but some players wanted to have this option to choose.

If you dont want changes, use Base Mod + Easy Recipes, and it will provide the same gameplay experience as before.

Will complex recipes give more experience?

Could you provide a file to translate this wonderful mod? Thanks

The mod has been updated - you can now choose between easy recipes (original version) and new hard recipes (thanks to PepperCat).

Please read a section 'How to use' in the mod page description, thanks!
