Comparison: Color Correction
By draeath
This is a simple comparison of the different "color correction" settings, since they are not well defined and I was unable to locate such a thing myself. For those trying to figure out which setting they prefer, this will hopefully save you a few dozen loading screens.

I paused the game, so that there were no scene changes between color correction changes, and used the "Hide HUD" hotkey to hide all the HUD indications, since they're not really relevant to this.

Because steam imposes a 2MB filesize limit on image uploads to guides, these images have been scaled down from 4K to 1080p and converted to JPEG. If you want to see the original 4K lossless PNGs, you can find them here.[imgur.com]

Here I show the graphics settings used when taking these screenshots. No, I can't maintain 60FPS+ with these settings! ☹

In case it should matter, these were taken with the 7.50 Public Beta (build 547494) on a Windows 11 system, using Vulkan. HDR and AutoHDR are disabled, 3840x2160 on an AMD GPU. I wouldn't expect anything to change between versions (this setting has been untouched for several major version releases) nor between GPU vendor/models.
Off (default)
This is the default setting, with no color correction applied. It is listed as "Off" in the menu.
Photo (my favorite)
This is the "Photo" setting, which happens to be my favorite.
Desaturated
This is the "Desaturated" setting.
Strongly Desaturated
This is the "Strongly Desaturated" setting.
Experimental
This is the "Experimental" setting. This one isn't all that well represented here, unfortunately. I find that it adds a reddish-violet tint to the overall image, which can be more easily seen in other scenes.

Thanks for this comparison! It really helps to see the differences compared to doing it in the settings (with a loading screen in between lol).

As far as I understand, these color correction settings are just a set of color filters that are added after rendering (or tweak an existing filter) to boost or cut the different color channels, like the "levels" adjustment on tools like photoshop or GIMP.

Oh no worries, I didn't take it in any negative way!

@draeath yea broski,no hate from me. Pls don't be upset over that. If I have said strongly dissaturated, it would be the same man. Just a preference thing, but if you felt better writing that, is all good then. Have a nice day bro, keep up the work.
PS* I don’t really understand color correction, but maybe if you could sometime later update the list, maybe we will find one that we like

Sure, there's no objectively "right" setting here - that's the entire point of this guide, is to show what they do so you can choose for yourself.
