stalin colluded with western powers to exacerbate the conflict, even before it broke out into total war. There were countless off-ramps they could have taken, instead the west (stalin included) chose to escalate. All the while, defense contractors from the west supplied the soviets the means to produce tanks, trucks, ammo, etc. ALL THE WHILE the western bankers were quietly helping german banks supply funding for their war machine. WW2 was the worst thing that has ever happened to humanity. churchill and roosevelt's graves should be spat on, just like stalin's. The adults here will see that I'm not excusing the brutality and horrors the nazis committed. I'm pointing out that the "good guys" were brutal monsters as well, with equally little regard for human life.

@_ShiriX, it's not a Soviet Game. It's Slovakian game.
I'm playing THE City Builder game with advanced economy. It has nothing to do with politics/history.
And now,

Calling Soviet Union's occupation of Poland a good thing is boiling blood in my veins, and I can't believe this opinion comes from a Pole's keyboard. OK, ok, ok. There were good aspects like economical growth etc, but as you stated already, it was only for the Soviet Union's interest. There good aspects in living in North Korea too! People don't get addicted to Tik Tok, They don't die to opioid OD, evryone has a dwelling and work. A very bold comparison, for sure, but saying that it's good that Stalin freed Poland is a lie. I'll not elaborate further, but before he "freed" us, he invaded us first.

Sorry for me getting mental, I hate Kremlin.

@Wootz I hate Putin more than you do and for better reasons than you do. This statue has nothing to do with Putin and nowhere was his name mentioned, unless your brain has been poisoned and you believe any even most meaningless admission that not every Russian is evil makes you a Putin troll this is a nonsensical reply. Especially because I never denied any crime commited by the red army or the PRL and it's just a fact that Soviet Union did offer a lot to Poles, this doesn't negate the crimes, it can't do that, it's just how it went down. After Poland joined the soviet imperialist bloc it was just in the soviet interest to help rebuild it, this isn't about moralism or who we should support (if you want a hottake, you should support the international proletariat instead of capitalist states.) in the modern conflicts.

I've seen people calling PRL a puppet state and depending on the definition I'd probably agree but I also believe most states are puppets of their dominant counterparts, it's just how this system works, and ultimately the soviet union did offer a lot to Poles. I genuinely don't think that much would change if Poland was aligned with the west, the crimes that PRL commited weren't unique and definitely not different from what the western states were doing. Brutal crackdowns on strikes are quite common as are secret police dissapearances.

I'm no fan of the soviet union but as "liberations" go, this one is somewhat worth celebrating. The horrors of the first industrialised genocide, cities being wiped off the map, milions enslaved and worked to death and an entire ethnicity forever wiped out of this region. I was born and raised in Warsaw, yet the thought that we had entire jewish districts with synagouges and distinct subcultures is completely foreign to me. What was lost in that war will never be repaired and we will forever be left with a giant hole as humanity. I'm sure many brutalities were commited by the red army, rapes and robberies were common, there's no excusing that. Yet this monument is supposed to glorify the liberation from the objectively worse horrors and ultimately the peace and rebuilding that happened post war.
