Description
=== Mission Overview ===
Impasse is a randomly generated sequential zone capture game.

Features:
 • solo or coop team play
 • choose any factions
 • save game feature
 • virtual arsenal
 • friendly AI squad and teammates that can revive the players and each other
 • many adjustable parameters to suit the game to your liking
 • the mission can be instantly moved to any map just by changing the pbo filename

Having more friendlies in the area than enemy will capture the flag. It will go faster the larger the difference (max 3).

=== Features Available ===
>Save Game: The game is automatically saved after each zone is captured/lost. The save includes where objectives are located, which objectives have been captured, and the player loadouts. Winning or losing will remove the saved game. You can also force a new game in the parameters.

Zones: There are 4 zone type active at any time. Players will have a spawn zone, defend zone, and attack zone. The enemy will have a spawn zone just beyond the players attack zone. You can only capture your attack zone, enemy can only capture your defend zone. AI that respawn at the spawn zone will be invulnerable until they leave that zone. The time they stay at the spawn zone before engaging can be adjusted in the parameters. Don't bother trying to spawn camp them :-)

Allies: You have squads of allied AI (if enabled in the parameters). They will spawn at your spawn zone and head to either the defend zone or attack zone. You can adjust which they prioritize in the parameters. If you get knocked unconscious while allies are nearby, they should come revive you.

Teammates: Additional teammates can join your squad (option is in the parameters). These teammates will revive any player or other teammate nearby. They will follow the squad leader and are controllable as normal in Arma. They have an additional feature in that they can follow a specific player if requested (use the action menu on the AI).

Following will cause the AI to keep a couple dozen meters behind the player. The AI will enter/exit vehicles that the player gets in/out of. The AI will copy the player's stance as well. This allows players to split off from the group (to do recon or sniping for instance) and still have a teammate to help revive them. The squad leader can recall the following AI by issuing a 'regroup' command.

Supports: A few supports are available from the supports menu. (0-8 on the keys above the keyboard, not the number pad.)

Leader Request/Relinquish: You can request to take leadership of the squad, or ask to relinquish leadership.

Flares: This will drop flares for about 10 minutes at the designated location. It's useful for night missions where NVGs are not available. The flares use the point you are aiming at when you make the call to indicate where you want the flares to drop. If you aim at the sky, it will bring up the map for you to choose. The flares will drop within 80m radius from this point.

Pausing If playing the game solo, with only one player who is hosting, there will be a pause game option added to the players action menu (mouse wheel) when not in a vehicle. A useful feature for bathroom breaks or answering phone calls.

=== Parameters Available ===
The following are some of the parameters that can be set before starting the game:
 • Objective count, size, spacing
 • Objective capture speed
 • Turn on/off 3d task markers and flag status hud
 • Player/Friendly AI faction
 • Friendly squad count, size, priorities
 • AI teammate count, ability to revive players
 • Enemy faction, numbers, and difficulty
 • Ai respawn delays (can slow down gameplay a bit)
 • Civilian presence
 • Virtual Arsenal full or only faction specific
 • Time and weather options

This is a coop mission, so it can only be played in the multiplayer part of Arma, although you can play it solo and private without being accessible to anyone else. This is how to play this mission:

Launch Arma. Once it's started select 'multiplayer' then 'server browser'
At the top select 'host server'. A list of settings will show up. Look at the 'HOST' option. If you have it set to 'LAN' then it will be a private game. Click the 'Host Server' button.
Next you should choose the map on the left, and the mission on the right.
Then click 'play'.

Garbage collection sounds like a good idea. It will clean up bodies that are far enough from players, but I can add an option to the flags to allow cleaning up all dead bodies. It's on my list to get added.

Is there any chance you could add a garbage collection function? Either a timer or maybe an option on the load-out crate to "remove garbage" similar to how you have the interactive option on the officer in "Impasse Total War", thanks.

I updated Impasse to fix bugs I saw with Everon. That map should work now.

I also added a parameter that will skip looking for areas with buildings to place the objectives. For maps with very few buildings, I was worried that the mission would place the objectives at the same couple of places each time. If that happens, this option tells the mission to just choose randomly on the map instead (which is what it falls back to when the building/objectives search fails).

Thank you for looking into it, I just want to say again that your missions are instrumental to how my friends and I enjoy Arma, thanks man.

Everon doesn't actually work with Impasse as there are too few buildings on a small map. The algorithm to find a location for the battle fails and falls back to just picking a row of objectives, and often they end up on the water.

I'll add to my list of things to do to add another algorithm for objective finding for small maps with lots of water.

I figured out why it won't work on Everon. I'll put out a fix.

I can't seem to get Impasse to work on Everon or Everon Reforged, it just gets hung up on generating the mission. I've gotten it to work with Insurrection and Rout, but unfortunately no Impasse

Yes, porting is simple. Just rename the pbo. So rename Impasse.Altis.pbo to Impasse.Eden.pbo (I think .Eden is the mission name for Everon) The same file should work on pretty much any map.

You can get the pbo files from my Skull Collection zip archive listed in the mission description above (or figure out how to get it from the workshop download which is more complicated).

I'm glad to hear you're enjoying the mission :-)

Can this mission be ported to other maps? If not, is there any possible chance you could make a version for Everon please? Impasse is my favorite scenario so I'm hoping porting it isn't difficult.

Discord works. The link is on the page for my mission collections shown above in the mission description. I can't figure out how to paste it from my phone right now :-/
