Description
Are your colonists tired of eating the same unidentifiable round blob day in and day out? Are you longing for some variety in their meals, without micromanaging a dozen different recipes that require a bunch of different ingredients?

This mod uses alternate textures for meals, with only one recipe! Adds recipes to copy the base game meals, except using the variety graphics class from Food Texture Variety Core.

You can find three new meals:

Variety Simple Meal
Variety Fine Meal
Variety Lavish Meal

These meals will use randomized textures, giving your colony a bit of variety in the food selection, without having to manage anything other than queuing up the recipe.

If the meal has a specific ingredient that has supported textures, it will select a random texture from that set. Otherwise, it falls back to using all the textures.

You can turn this off in the settings and use fully randomized textures instead.

Compatibility

This mod is safe to add to games.

This mod is not safe to remove to games unless you feel confident removing all the items/recipes.

This mod does not touch the base game meals, so it should be safe with other mods. It's self-contained.

Issues

If there's an issue just follow standard bug reporting procedures. Send me a log and a description of what was going on when the error happened.

The more information you can give me, the more likely I'll be able to figure out how to recreate it and fix it. If I can't do that... then you're stuck with the bug, sorry. Help me help you.

Is it safe to run this with vanilla textures expanded, as they also do some "variation" on meal graphics?

@RowanSkie - what I'm working on next is going to be a mod that replaces all the base game meals - including carnivore, vegetarian, and survival. And it'll be a patch operation so it'll be a replacement. I just need a bit of time to finish making textures for everything.

Well.... I know I said I wasn't going to do ingredient specific textures but I had a flash of insight on how to do it in a way that was easy to manage and now it's a thing. There's not many of them, but the mod can support random textures by ingredient.

So @hekmo, it's now based on what's in the meal, but then falls back to completely random if an ingredient-specific texture doesn't exist.

Hey! I'm working on a meal renaming mod that I think would have some really cool interactions with yours. Are your textures completely random or based on what's in the meal?
