Wallpaper Engine for mobile phones: A comprehensive guide

Some things can be a little tricky and not so intuitive with this app, so I made this guide trying to clarify them.

Pairing with your computer

If you want your desktop wallpapers on your mobile, you must first pair both desktop and mobile applications.

1. Make sure your computer and phone are connected to the same network.
2. Open Wallpaper Engine on your PC and click on Mobile > Connect new device.



3. If a Firewall window pop up, click on Allow access.

4. Now go to the Wallpaper Engine app on your phone, touch on Add > Pair with Computer.

5. Select your computer and enter the pin showed in the desktop version of Wallpaper Engine.
You will see something like this:

Transferring your wallpapers

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀  Keep in mind you need both applications open while you are transferring wallpapers.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀  

1. Go to Wallpaper Engine on your PC.
2. Click on Filter results and under the Show only section, check Mobile compatible.
3. Finally, choose a wallpaper and click on Send to [YOUR_PHONE_NAME].



Note: If you don't have any mobile compatible wallpaper, you can always go to the Workshop and repeat the same process (Filter results > Mobile compatible).

Playlist

You can add a wallpaper to the Playlist by touch and holding it > Add to Playlist. You don't need to do any other thing. The Playlist will play automatically. After 30 minutes (which is the default on-screen duration), you will able to see how the wallpaper changes. If you want to change the duration of the wallpapers, go to Playlist and touch the wrench icon.

The minimum duration is 1 minute and you can only specify minutes. Not seconds, not hours.
Finally, if you want to remove a wallpaper from the Playlist, just touch and hold it, or slide to the left or right.

Using local files as wallpapers

Just go to Add > Import File and choose a GIF, video or an exported wallpaper from the desktop version of Wallpaper Engine (.mpkg files) stored on your phone.

Why my wallpapers have no sound?

It's intentionally disabled as you can see in this thread.

How can I set a live wallpaper as lock-screen?

1. Touch the desired wallpaper to see a preview of it.
2. Touch and hold the check-mark symbol > PREVIEW & APPLY.

3. Press on Set wallpaper > Home screen and lock screen.

But I want to set a specific wallpaper ONLY as lock-screen.

Why my wallpaper is not looping?

This seems to be a rare issue (I hope) with some video wallpapers which have been transferred or manually imported (as .mpkg files). I found two ways to solve this anomaly:

A. Manually import the .mp4 file from your phone, just as how I explain in the Using local files as wallpapers section.
B. Making a new file with the same video using an external tool like HandBrake (recommended), or a video editing software like DaVinci Resolve.

So I managed to send my wallpaper to my phone, but only a few of the effects are showing up? Foliage sway and lighting, but not glitter and shimmer. I've managed to make those work on other phone wallpapers, so I'm puzzled as to why they won't work this time.
