Katana-HAV-RE2

Description
CV Class 7, Core 7, Unlock Level 25 - Reforged Eden 2 Only

Primary roles: Combat CV, Upgradable, Stripped down Core 7 version, Warp, Shield, Utility

The Katana-Heavy Assault Vessel was built for tough combat in Legacy space or elsewhere. The ship contains many layers of front protection, decoys, and a lot of upgrade potential to take all the way to core 17. It was built for Anvils Legacy space challenge for September. This version is a bare bones core 7 version not including any weapons beyond 20 sentry guns(drone defense) as well as a decoy turret that is not visible.

Stock Features

The Katana-HAV-RE2 comes stock with an advanced warp drive (60 light years), advanced shield, 1st person and 3rd person bridges, 4x320K Ammo bays, full med bay, armor locker, weapon locker, repair station, fridge, crew area, 3 point WiFi, 5 16K storage boxes, gravity generator and detector.

Upgrade options

The Katana-HAV has a lot of upgrade potential. It has locations to add 2 superior cpu cores, 4 auxiliary cores, 4 quantum cores, 2 small or 1 large fusion reactor, 8 heavy weapon launchers, 2 artillery turrets (5x5), 17 standard turrets, 4 large, 6 medium, and 8 small shield parts, teleporter, 2 constructors, long range radar array (5x5), and 2 strafing drive thrusters.

Offense and defense

The hull is built with mainly steel but also some hardened and combat steel with a lot of xeno material packed underneath the hull blocks, especially on the front end of the ship. It was built to take a lot of damage and keep working even if the shields are down mainly for legacy space combat. It is recommend to always try to face you target and back away from battle as opposed to turn around and leave. Also the stock shield HP's without any additional shield parts is 42212.

On this version being at core 7 stock, it does not come with weapons or additional shield parts, etc. This is meant for a player that would like to get the ship in at a lessor cost and then upgrade and configure it to their liking. However with that being said it still comes with 20 sentry guns (P menu control), and 1 decoy embedded cannon turret.

Special thanks to Artemis Rouge for doing some combat testing on a previous version of the ship. Thank you Artemis! I was given many recommendations after this testing and I tried to do most of them. I did delay the release of the ship for several days working out areas better, fixing issues, and making a number of changes.

I am planning on a linked unlisted version of the ship that comes better equipped at a higher CPU core level but I haven't really made up my mind what it should come with yet as I want players to select there own weapon and shield setup which is also dependent on how many expensive cores they can add. :)

More to note, you must remove info LCD's to place parts. The long range radar array replaces the detector on the back of the CV. Core 17 is not enough CPU to give the ship every possible upgrade. You will still have to be a bit selective finding a balance on shields, weapons, etc.

Gonzo clearly doesn't understand the concept of 'fitting for purpose'. The hardpoints are there to give you flexibility. Just because there's a weapon hardpoint DOESN'T MEAN you have to put a weapon there.

The point is to give you balance for PDC / Artillery Battery coverage if you want to swap between heavy bombardment or skirmish mode. You'd likely have the foredeck clear of PDCs if you were using heavy artillery etc. and vice-versa you may have the port and stbd gun placements cleared if you were using plasma cannons on the sides since they're Line-of-site weapons.

All in all the ship has a great design for a large battle cruiser and I quite like the format.
I see this is a stock version with only sentrys for defense and the rest is by choice of the player, thats kinda cool however RE2 is very limited when it comes to large amount of installed weapons there are more weapons slots than the CPU power can handle, you will at least leave open 5-6 weapon slots, or the two large ones in the top, and the inner wall placements wont let me add additional shields, first that and secondly the spots for shields and fusion generators are too small none exist of a size that small not even compact shield generators fit inside.

As for the Offensive armament, there is not nearly enough CPU power for them the gun holes are made for heavy weapons which require a gigantic amount of CPU power, once again this is not possible in RE2 you cant stack up CPU, i ended up closing them with combat steel and used some torpedo launchers instead, theres not much of a choice.

Please release C17 or more equipped version if possible. This thing is a beauty!

do you have the full build of this????

I did some testing and thought I should let you know that a few of your thrusters can cause major losses if they are destroyed. I'm pretty new to RE2, so I'm not sure if you can repair Sups, Quants, Aux or Adv Shield Boosters but you have a few Drives that will take those things with them if destroyed. The CPU parts say they won't Repair to Template, so I'm assuming they won't.

@killodactyle some of J's Merc Series work in RE2 others need significant re tooling and redesign to operate the way they used to

Any chance you will update the Merc series for RE2
