Description

My quick and simple (except for the aerodynamics in this game being utter rubbish) version of the Bell P-39Q Airacobra fighter.

It is armed with 4 x .50 caliber machine guns in the wings and 2 x .50 caliber machine guns in the nose, and a 37 mm M4 automatic cannon firing through the propeller hub. This version also carries a 500 lb bomb.

Info from Wikipedia, somewhat edited.

The Bell P-39 Airacobra was a fighter produced by Bell Aircraft for the United States Army Air Forces during World War II. It was one of the principal American fighters in service when the United States entered combat. The P-39 was used by the Soviet Air Force, and enabled individual Soviet pilots to score the highest number of kills attributed to any U.S. fighter type flown by any air force in any conflict.

It had an unusual layout, with the engine installed in the center fuselage, behind the pilot, and driving a tractor propeller in the nose with a long shaft. It was also the first fighter fitted with a tricycle undercarriage.

Almost 10,000 were produced from 1940 to May 1944.

The most successful and numerous use of the P-39 was by the Soviet Air Forces. Soviet pilots appreciated the cannon-armed P-39 primarily for its air-to-air capability. A common Western misconception is that the Bell fighters were used as ground attack aircraft. This is because the Soviet term for the mission of the P-39, prikrytiye sukhoputnykh voysk (coverage of ground forces) has been mistaken as meaning close air support. In Soviet usage, it has a broader meaning including protection of the airspace above army operations. Soviet-operated P-39s did make strafing attacks, but it was "never a primary mission or strong suit for this aircraft".

Note! For some reason the physics in the game do NOT like this plane and getting it flying reasonably stable has been a chore since its behaviour seems random. Spawn it in and it flies one way, spawn it in again and it behaves differently, open it in the editro, change NOTHING, and it behaves differently again. F*ck me this game is broken to Hell and back.
That being said it flies ok for me at 165 FPS in single player, but I have no clue how it'll behave under other circumstances. Blame Fluppi, not me.
