How to play a private match with friends [Using Hamachi]

This guide will teach you how to create a private match to play with your friends using LogMeIn Hamachi.

Requirements

Download LogMeIn Hamachi[vpn.net] if you don't have it.

Create a new network

Open Hamachi and click on "Create a new network...".


You have to enter a network name (ID) and password and send it to your friends.
Example:

Join your friend's network

Once the network is created, your friends will have to join it.

Click on "Join an existing network..." and type the ID and password.

Create the match

Open Quake Live.

Go to "Start match".

You can now select the map and gamemode you want to play, just be sure to set the Match type to LAN

Finally, launch the match.

Join the match

After creating the match, your friends will have to open the "Match browser".

Then, open the filters tab and make sure you are searching for LAN servers.


The match should appear on the server list, join it.

Alternative methods (without Hamachi)

Hamachi only lets you have 5 users on a single network for free.

If you want to play with more people consider creating a dedicated server or launching a match with the type "Internet", this requires some extra configuration like port forwarding.
