Description
FV MAENAS

Commercial Crab Boat

Features
  • 12 x Smart crab Pots (64 capacity) with remote monitoring
  • 4 x Large standard Pots (64 capacity)
  • One man operation with gantry crane for Pot & Buoy loading
  • Huge capacity onboard hold

Zero Emissions Fishing

Powered by a closed cycle steam piston engine producing no emissions with a top speed of 40 Knots.
A Medium sized commercial Crab and Lobster boat with reasonable speed and manoeuvrability for its size and weight.
Designed for single man operation with Tipper operator having access to ships movement for setting and retrieving.
Over 1000 crab for the full 16 pots run, more than 15k onboard capacity.
Each Pot requires loading onto the tipper, Buoy loaded on top and connected together by cable.
Max Pot depth can be doubled to ~80m using the couplers.

Procedure

  1. Use Gantry Crane to pick up Pot and load onto Tipper then disconnect.
  2. Re-use Gantry Crane to pick up a Buoy and place on top of pot, can disconnect or leave connected in high seas.
  3. Leave Tipper helm and connect Cable between Pot Winch and Buoy Winch. For deeper casts, connect coupler between pot winch and buoy winch.
  4. Arm Buoy, auto spooling out winches. When using couplers, manually stack on pot or throw overboard.
  5. Return to Tipper operator helm and tip pot overboard.
  6. Arm 'Ship Control' panel and use to manoeuvre ship to next pot drop location in the string.
  7. Buoy Slack can be adjusted on the Pot data system by selecting the Pot id and adjusting winch length.

Tips:
'Master Power' switch (Located top Right of bridge) must be turned on for any non emergency equipment to work.
Boiler can be run without issue or management indefinitely, so no need to turn off.
Everything is labelled on the helms.

Hey mate, I'm having issues with power. It ran great while i put the pots out, loaded about 700 crabs, but after that, trying to head to the sale point, the battery slowly depleted. I don't know what i did, but the battery is depleting on full speed. Gets to a point where everything looses power. Any fixes?

@XxwhirlwindxX, he refers to the inclination to port of the ship, what he did was put a stabilization system on it

Hey werwolf, not sure what you meant here?

"Created a space under the bottom deck on the starboard side with fluid pumps for bilge in and bilge out,to counteract the port list after loading crab." Could you explain it another way?

Werwolf.
Agreed. I love this vessel, but I have the same issues. Pots shifting, list from loading crab, and off-loading being a pain in the . . . . The fact that SW can't seem to put cleats or bollards down where people fuel and offload fish, you know, where people actually NEED to moor a vessel and keep it stationary, makes the need to hold fish vacuum steady even more important.

Jed_Sanders, please make these corrections or allow Werwolf to upload these fixes. GREAT vessel. Well done.
