Where Does The Compass Go?

The rumors spread on and on about where the Compass leads to. From an 'Iron Mountain' to a 'Lantern Land' to 'nothing', many have heard stories about where this simple standard device directs us to. Papiwa sets out on an epic intense journey to discover the truth for himself.

Prologue

The Question

It's simple. One day I found my self asking, "Where does the Compass Go?". I asked a fellow chatter and he said, "Iron Mountain". Makes sense enough right? Iron. Compass. Well I decided to find out for myself. So, with compass in hand, I set out on a suicidal expedition to get real answers. Join my epic tale of Dragon Endurance mayhem that I like to call Path of The Compass

Journey Begins

I went straight down for gear. Caves near the Tower are adequate enough for any Tier upgrades. So I crafted myself some Diamond gear and figured I can grab the rest on the go as I run.

By day and by night, Dragons chased and hunted me through the far reaches of the land. Through mountains and desolate plains these vicious creatures were relentless and flew circles around me like hungry scavengers.



By the time I reached Hell I was well equipped to slay the winged beasts. I have reached lands end and ahead lies a crimson desert of Blood and lava. The Compass is my only sense of direction now.
I can hear a Dragon coming.

I see something in the distance...


It's an Alien Mothership right in Hell! I load my weapons.
I have to get around this ship.

Journey Begins Again

Hell is probably the thickest Biome. That's my personal opinion. After finally making it through Hell, the first thing I encountered was another enourmous Alien Ship. Since I was already equipped enough I decided it was safest to just keep it moving.


Dragons kept swarming.


Hell. Again.
And some odd occurance in the middle of nowhere.

Epic Tale of Strange Lands

Once I reached land again, this time around, things began to get very weird. Different. Unorthodox. It was rather "Twilight Zone".

The Green Foothills were unlike anything seen before this. There were floating land islands everywhere. Trees and sand and Ice.


Craters, layers of snow beneath sand, and gigantic Mountains. All in one spot. Biomes were no longer seperated. This is an exotic landscape of untold extremes.

25,000

By the time I reached 25,000 I was lost. I had lost my Compass and worked vigilantly to produce a new one. There is no telling if and how far I may have veered off the path. One thing was for sure, I found another incredibly gigantic Crater! This will be where I rest.

Mothership

By now I had met a great team of allies to journey alongside. (A man who is Just a Moose and a man who claims his Groceries are always Fresh.) They fought valiantly against wave after wave of Dragons.
Leaving Ore Land we headed back into Hell. Then...


MOTHERSHIPS OF ALL MOTHERSHIPS!!!!
This ship was unbelievably enormous!!!!! With Dragons and Aliens swarming us we found it best to just keep it moving. I wish I could have set up a base right in the core of it!
No time. We had to keep going.

The Legend

My feet and legs couldn't take it anymore. I was losing hope. Running just to run. Many travelers were long lost and gone. Nobody believes myths and legends anymore, do they? I do. I believe some stuff I hear. Science makes sense of...............

An impassible wall as high as the sky!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Is it true???? Can this be Lantern Land??





Dragons await at the surface of this strange land. Face to face with the beasts, we fought for our lives.

Certainly no safe place to stop and rest. I was sad to go so soon. I wanted to stay and soak in the 'awe'. We must keep moving.

50,000!

Lantern Land exists!!!! As far as the eye can see!! The ground is an endless flat plane of Lanterns!






This place is teeming with Dragons!!!! No safe place to be at all!

Weeks of traveling and finally!! Answers! But still not the one that I seek. The Compass still has not begun to spin around. There is something out there...

Beyond

Lantern Land literally appears to be an endless ocean of Dragon infested light. This place was never meant to be colonized, nor trespassed, as wave after wave of Dragons hunted us relentlessly.

It began to feel like another endless journey. Then the rumors began to fly again. "This is it. Lantern Land forever." And, "The end is 600,000 Blocks away?" Obsurd! 600k. Who could ever make it that far?!



Then.............








The end of the wall!!!!!!!!!! OMG!!! What seemed to be a sky-high, bottomless plateau!! We made it across!!! Luckily I had my eyes on the ground ahead, as this fall guarantees a fatal plunge. So how do we get down?

This wall has no end in sight! This day will live on forever in my head. No time to stop. The Dragons still follow. They will not stop until we are all annihilated! Good bye strange land. No wonder it's just a legend. It's inhabitable. We began our trip again, this time though a thick ring of large hills of Bloodstone. This was certainly Hell.








After Hell we found yet another Ore Land Alien Ship which we quickly passed. Into the snowy dunes of Permafrost and Desert we ran and ran and ran. Through more Green Foothills and through more Moon Craters, we ran straight passed it all. By now we are desperate for answers. And for rest.

A New Day(Way Beyond)

As the journey continues I begin washed with relief and excitement. I run and run as I digest what I'd seen so far; countless Motherships, and that, wall? If I die now I will feel ok knowing that I didn't leave home for nothing.
Through Mountains, Deserts, and Foothills we go. "Where we're going nobody knows."

Then, AGAIN!!! Another one! Totally impassible! Stretching as far as you can see! What are these things?!


As expected, extremely hostile Dragons dominate this world. No time for fun here. Run!!


If ever lost in this invincible place without a Compass, it would be dizzying and discombobulating.

These walls, or Plateaus, are completely flat! No hills, no ores, no caves, and unminable. But more incredibly so, they are over 10,000 Blocks wide. Without Compass, you're Dragon food, if not delirious.

Encounter

Back into the dark hills of Hell I journey. No longer looking back, I just run.
To no surprise I find an Alien Mothership. However, it was not alone...







I thought I had seen it all! There's no chance in the world I could take on these Aliens for their materials! Run! Run!

I ran as fast as I could without looking back. Far beyond their sight and well out of their territory. Close encounters of the third kind for real.
I'm out of breath. I feel dizzy. Wierd....

The Dream

I faint............






Where am I???

Aghh!!

Aahhh!!




Moose!! Moose is this Heaven!? What happened?? Where am I??






AAAAGGHGHHHH!!!!!


What just happened??
Was I dreaming? Where am I going?

100,000

Further along we come to yet another Plateau of Lanterns. They no longer excite us, as we are well aware of the dangerous and deadly deserts these areas are.


We run as fast as we can. Dodging Dragons and fireballs, exhausting our ammo. We know now that this world is not endless. Run!




We make it down. Into the safety of hills and caves we go. A good place for rest.

Again, we begin our expedition across the lands and back into Hell.
Here we go!...

The Maker

WHAT. IS. THAT?!!
That's no Mothership!

This is surreal! Pure adrenaline all over again! Alien Mothership Hub!!!! This thing is over 500 Blocks wide!!!!

Now we know where Motherships come from!!!

Plateaus

Without any allies at the moment, it was only safest and wisest to just keep moving. If I can ever find my way back to that place I will claim it as mine!


It is only logical to agree that these are biomes. Untouchable and inhabitable, none the less, they exist and they reoccurr in intervals just like any other biome. A Lantern Plateau. I myself will call these lands Plateaus. Impassible, and as high as the sky itself, these Plateaus are officially considered a biome.

But most notable of all were these two neighboring Twin Motherships!!!!!!!!


More like Mama and Papa, as one totally dwarfed the other, nonetheless, these ships were massive in volume and highly abundant in precious Space Goo.
With my Bloodstone LMG I cut down anything and everything that got in my path. Playtime is certainly over; I'm ready to get somewhere!
