Introduction to R&D History：
The Dongfeng 10D electric transmission diesel locomotive is a four axle electric transmission diesel locomotive designed by Dalian Locomotive Works in 1992 and manufactured in 1994, featuring double sections, multiple units, and heavy loads; The locomotive plan adopts a 12V240ZJD internal combustion engine modified from the 16V240ZJD internal combustion engine of Dongfeng 4D type, with a locomotive installed power of 2130kW.
This locomotive is designed to solve the problems encountered by the Dongfeng 10A model during operation on mountainous railway lines, such as steep slopes, insufficient track adhesion, hill stopping, and starting. In addition to the internal combustion engine, which was improved with the help of Ricardo in the UK, the Dongfeng 10D model also uses the domestically produced 752AFC1 traction motor authorized by GE in the United States. Its electrical structure is consistent with the design of the GE752AF motor. There are also AAB VTC 214-13 turbocharger, Woodward PG debugger, Bryce fuel injection pump and injector, It also referenced some of the exterior features of American locomotives.
However, the Dongfeng 10D diesel locomotive only produced one set of two locomotives. After the locomotive was manufactured, many tests were conducted, which showed that the locomotive still could not solve the main problems of the DF10A type;Subsequently, the locomotive was divided into two separate locomotives for shunting operations at the Dalian Locomotive Factory. It was sealed and scrapped in 1998 and dismantled around 2005.
