KAIs' diesel-electric locomotives are mostly made in the United States or Canada, while the diesel hydraulics are mostly made in Germany. Electric units are mostly Japanese-built. Local industry is capable of building both diesel and electric units. AIC assembles diesel-electric TRAXX Asia Locomotives in Surabaya, East Java with Bombardier.

The U18C is a common sight for people living in Jawa as it often can be seen pulling passenger and freight services on most of Indonesia's national rail network. It along with hundreds of other GE units make up for a lot of the rail traffic and the backbone for Kereta Api Indonesia's many operations.

The CC 201 XX features no heaters, as it's already very hot in the tropics. Other than that, it's got a comfy seat you can drive the train from, another for the engineer, some access panels, and a toilet for those long journeys.

Staring the locomotive:
- Go to the power board and turn all the large circuit breakers on
- Go to the side of the train, open the generator doors, and start the engine
- Go back to the cab, and drive

Recommended actions : Turn on interior lights and spotlights of the direction you are going to relative to the cab
Note : WabSIM or ESS inside the locomotive is very outdated. may need revamp later.
